While shooting this Jeanne d'Arc (Alter) look at the anime convention, photographer Xiayan set up two large cool-toned softboxes in a corner as the key lights. This blue rim lighting paired with cool frontal illumination created an intense contrast between the black sailor uniform and the white wig. The costume was custom-tailored; the cropped midriff-baring top with a red bow tie and white-striped pleated skirt visually elongated the leg line. The black stockings and chunky-heeled ankle boots were crucial to the final look, chosen with a subtle sheen that popped distinctly under intense lighting. The prop flag's pole was much heavier than expected, featuring sharply printed black-and-white flame crests. Holding the long pole steady while maintaining dynamic poses required repeated center-of-gravity adjustments. In a crowded, chaotic convention environment, using a telephoto lens with a wide aperture successfully blurred the surrounding background and kept the character front and center. Shooting from a low angle while kneeling on one knee or posing with a leg stretched back accentuated the leg lines to the fullest. Many fellow fans on-site recognized the character, making for a lively atmosphere. For hair and makeup, light-colored contacts, cool-toned foundation, and dark lipstick sharpened my facial contours. In terms of costume details, the buttons on the black sailor uniform and the red bow tie were securely fastened to prevent damage during movement, and the wig's bangs and sideburns were trimmed beforehand to fit the headpiece comfortably. For the visual tone, cool blue grading guided the post-processing, preserving natural skin texture and the matte details of the black stockings while enhancing overall sharpness. The final result achieves both the fierce edge of 2D aesthetics and the realistic texture of the real world.
