Compared to Jeanne d'Arc (Alter)'s usual wild and furious temperament, this Drunken Jalter state focuses more on her complex aura of laziness, disdain, and haughtiness—especially that iconic \"French disdain\" expression, which comes across exceptionally well in this lounge setting.
Regarding the outfit selection, we specifically sought out this dress made of deep purple satin. Under the warm yellow bar counter lights, this fabric offers superb reflective qualities, delivering a high-end texture. The high-slit skirt cut, combined with over-the-knee deep purple stockings and matching long gloves, creates a highly cohesive color palette. This not only preserves the character's signature visual elements but also beautifully elongates body lines during the shoot. The black lace panels at the chest and shoulders add visual layering, preventing the large area of solid color from feeling dull. The large bow tied at the neck adorned with subtle shimmer subtly aligns with the micro-intoxicated, flickering lighting atmosphere of the venue.
When shooting, capturing the balance between \"haughty\" and \"lazy\" was key. Set in a bar, the liquor bottles on the background shelf were far from mere props; reacting with the warm ambient light, they served as crucial elements highlighting character personality. Under warm backlighting, holding a glass of red wine required no forced posing—simply maintaining a relaxed seated posture, tilting the head slightly or resting a chin on one hand naturally exuded that attitude of \"you mortals are beneath me.\" When the photographer caught that moment of resting a cheek on one hand with a slightly hazy, disdainful gaze, I knew the soul of this photoset had been captured.
We also integrated minor props into the composition. For instance, the glass of red wine interacted with the Drunken Jalter theme while adding a reddish visual anchor outside the solid purple color scheme, preventing the entire frame from sinking entirely into purple and warm orange-yellow tones. In terms of makeup, while white wigs are notoriously difficult to manage, pairing it with purple face markings, diamond-shaped chin paint, and light contact lenses matching her eye color perfectly expressed the character's unearthly, exquisite feel.
Although this dress looks breathtakingly gorgeous, its high slit and form-fitting cut tested my stamina as a Cosplayer throughout the shoot. Hours of adjusting lighting and positions paid off with results that exceeded expectations. Capturing cosplay is not merely about restoring a 2D character; it is a process of internalizing the persona through costume and camera lens. This photoset aims to convey Jeanne d'Arc (Alter)'s relaxed, arrogant, yet irresistibly dangerous charm when her guard is down, and I hope these moments frozen under warm bar lights reveal a different side of her.
