[Nilou Cosplay] Genshin Impact: Studio Recreation of Exotic Style Red Hair

Sharing a set of Genshin Impact Nilou cosplay photos today, which took considerable effort from outfit prep to completing the studio shoot. The core of this entire look lies in the Red hair, blue eyes, and Exotic style blue, white, and gold accessories.

For the wig, I specially selected a high-saturation vibrant red and trimmed straight blunt bangs, which frame facial contours wonderfully. The contact lenses are bright blue, drastically transforming eye clarity upon wearing and serving as the soul of the makeup. To align facial structure closer to the character's 3D dimension, I used earth tones as the base for eye makeup, deepening shadows around inner and outer corners while pairing with natural pink blush to prevent a heavy look.

The trickiest parts to manage were the double horn headpiece and the forehead chain adornments. The headpiece features semi-transparent black-and-gold material with a 3D gradient finish; although gorgeous, its weight is undeniable, preventing dramatic head movements during the shoot. The golden ring and beaded forehead ornaments required meticulous fastening to prevent wobbling from disrupting shot framing when posing.

Costume tailoring was equally critical for character fidelity. Pairing the sky-blue tube top with a white sheer blouse severely tests body proportions, requiring thorough preparation before shooting. Thickened flare sleeves on the forearms and stiff golden gauntlets at the wrists added visual volume, keeping the ensemble from looking flimsy. The emerald gemstone pendant on the chest is eye-catching, adding immense splendor. For fabric selection, the sky-blue fabric features a subtle sheen that enhances skin brightness under key lights. The white blouse utilizes lightweight sheer gauze, adding layering without feeling bulky. The blue-and-white ribbons on the skirt hem were stiffened to maintain graceful curves even in a seated position.

During the shoot, the photographer and I experimented with various lighting setups. Figure 2 leveraged strong rim lighting from the right, making fabric textures and golden ornament glints fully shine. Figure 3 utilized moody blue lighting—this cool background light paired with Red hair creates a striking visual contrast, rendering the overall vibe serene and mysterious. Half-body shots better highlight facial details and hair texture, whereas seated poses present complete outfit coordination. That strong rim light in Figure 2 yielded an unexpected punch, sharpening costume outlines and imparting metallic shine to the golden gauntlets.

I particularly favor seated poses as they highlight the hollow waist cutouts while resting folded hands gently in front or leaning on a hand, softening character demeanor. Although donning this outfit is quite cumbersome and managing extensive accessories requires extreme care, seeing the final character reveal makes it deeply rewarding. The vibrant collision of Red hair and blue-white garments looks stunning on camera, infusing the frame with 2D fantasy vibes. For the wig, bright red heavily tests strand luster—excessive synthetic shine ruins texture, so I specifically chose matte fiber and trimmed natural layers at the ends. Paired with blunt bangs, it effectively sculpts facial structure, giving cheeks more three-dimensional definition.

As a dedicated effort, this cosplay offered a fresh experience portraying Red hair characters. From fine-tuning makeup to assembling intricate accessories, every step strived to stay true to original character lore. The process of gradually approaching an ideal visual state through meticulous preparation makes the memory worth savoring. Although wearing this heavy outfit was exhausting—especially when warm lighting made metal accessories feel heavy and the thick gold neck collar needed constant adjustment to remain level on camera—all these hassles turned into complete satisfaction upon seeing the final photos.
