[Tingyun Fugue cosplay] The Figure of an Old Friend from Honkai: Star Rail, Frozen at This Moment

Putting on this complete gear, arranging the fluffy fox tail, and standing in front of the lens at that moment, my thoughts seemed to briefly cross the dimensional barrier, connecting with that figure gracefully walking alone on the Xianzhou Luofu. The title of the post asks: "Am I, a humble girl, identical to the person in your memory?" This is not just a question, but a reflection of my state of mind during this character portrayal.

The character chosen this time is Tingyun Fugue from Honkai: Star Rail. In the makeup stage, the biggest challenge was how to accurately recreate that temperament which is both lively as a Foxian and yet cool and steady. To achieve this effect, I carefully selected and adjusted everything from the wig and contact lenses to the accessories.

The wig is an interweaving of deep brown and dark red, paired with natural fluffy long bangs that can frame the face perfectly when the wind rises. The emerald green contact lenses are a major highlight of the entire makeup. This kind of high-saturation pupil color often needs to be paired with specific eye makeup tones. I used reddish-brown and earth-toned eyeshadows for blending to neutralize the abruptness of the green eyes, making the gaze look softer and full of stories.

The pair of plush animal ears on top of the head is one of the character's iconic elements. The custom animal ears this time used faux fur, and the edges of the auricles were added with a pale gold rigid trim, preserving the animal's plush feel while adding a touch of magnificence to the setting. The bright red tassels hanging down from the sides of the ears and the small white fluff balls on top gently swayed with the breeze during the shoot, adding a sense of motion to the frame.

The entire outfit adopts a modified Japanese-style cut. The upper body features an off-the-shoulder design, which beautifully showcases the lines of the collarbone, shoulders, and neck. Combined with the main color scheme of purple-brown and dark red, as well as the huge golden 3D flower decoration on the chest, the overall visual center is concentrated on the neckline and chest. The waist cincher part is made very stiff, with a metallic texture and golden subtle patterns, acting as both a waist-slimming element and a dividing line between the upper and lower clothing, creating distinct layers.

The wide sleeves are one of the souls of this outfit. The cuffs are pieced together with pale pink ruffles, which both softens the deep main color tone and brings a touch of lightness. When holding that folding fan with a red base and white flowers, the entire character's aura is fully displayed. The fan surface features a red-and-white flame floral pattern, with black ribs and red tassels, feeling very substantial in hand, carrying an elegance of "questioning the heart with a fan."

And the part I am most satisfied with is absolutely that fluffy gradient fox tail. Transitioning from pure white near the root of the tail to bright pink at the tip, the material is fluffy. Wearing it behind not only gives a strong sense of volume visually but also carries a heavy sense of realism when walking. This tail occupies a huge part of the full-body photos, making it incredibly photogenic as convention photos.

During the shoot, we deliberately avoided the harsh direct light of midday and chose the soft natural light of the afternoon. This kind of light is very suitable for shooting Japanese-style clothing, beautifully capturing the matte satin texture of the dress surface that doesn't reflect light strongly, as well as the reflection of the golden metal pieces, with high color accuracy. When the breeze blows, the red-highlighted hair, red tassels, and fluffy tail all generate natural movements. Catching these moments can produce photos that are much more vivid than simple posing.

Engaging in cosplay is not just about putting on clothes, but also about understanding and expressing the inner self of the character. Every time I adjust my gaze and gestures in the mirror, it is an attempt at this completely new state of mind. I hope through these images, I can convey that familiar feeling of reuniting after a long separation, allowing those who see it to feel the unique charm of this character.
