Cosplaying Bloody Queen in her SS rarity skin from Identity V this time was an immense test of physical stamina and styling precision, from the moment the costume arrived through to wrapping up the shoot.
Let's begin with hair and makeup. Bloody Queen's pale hair requires ample volume and vintage undulating curls, keeping the strand textures immaculate. In terms of makeup, eye definition is the absolute centerpiece: sweeping, expansive eyeshadow blending paired with elongated eyeliner and deep crimson lips was crucial to carry the dimensional structure of a dark gothic face. The metallic crown resting on the forehead and the openwork filigree gemstone choker around the neck form the true soul of the look, carrying substantial physical weight. During dressing, their positioning had to be adjusted with painstaking care to sit flush against the collarbones, ensuring they gleamed before the lens with that opulent yet delicately dangerous metallic luster.
The main gown is constructed from a paneled fusion of black lace and rich crimson velvet, featuring an expansive skirt volume. To support and showcase the garment's dramatic silhouette, I opted for a semi-reclining posture against a carved wooden armchair. This pose demands continuous engagement through the core and back: holding poised posture while simultaneously controlling eye gaze and facial micro-expressions to convey her signature traits—aloof glamour, noble elegance, and a subtle undertone of melancholy and madness. While the still images appear effortless and serene, holding this posture for more than ten minutes left my cervical spine and shoulders intensely sore.
The shoot took place at Guanyu Photography Selfie Studio, whose inherently vintage and moody ambient setting was an enormous asset. Photographer Nord excels at capturing fleeting lighting and nuanced emotion, deploying powerful crimson and dark golden ambient lights on set. This interplay of red and black illumination infused the frames with the painterly richness of a classical oil painting. Throughout the session, we explored diverse sightlines—capturing both the pensive introspection of downcast eyes and the penetrating intensity of gazing straight down the lens.
All in all, the physical heft of this look and the intricate complexity of its ornamentation demanded absolute focus before the camera. Retaining these finer textures in the final selects owes everything to the rigorous pre-shoot styling refinement and on-set lighting chemistry. Bringing this visually charged piece to life was an exceptionally immersive and rewarding creative journey.
