[Diamond Cosplay] Brilliance of Land of the Lustrous, Captured at Taishan Anime Convention

For these convention photos at the Taishan Anime Convention, the weather and lighting surprisingly worked together wonderfully. Artificial intense fill lights were used on site, combined with reflections from the surrounding shopping mall's glass curtain walls, adding a cool, crisp, and sharp visual texture to the set. Most of the effort for this look was spent on tweaking the wig and makeup. The wig chosen was a fluffy short white style with added hair strands of cyan, pale blue, and pink-purple highlights. Under strong light, these fine strands shimmered with a subtle glow, preserving a cool aura while appearing exceedingly lively. For makeup, I specifically used eyeshadow that echoed the hair's highlight shades, and wearing light-colored contact lenses helped me fit better into this flawless yet combat-ready atmosphere.

The outfit features a black-and-white uniform style, combining a white lapel collar with a black tie, paired with a sharp black short-sleeved top and shorts, separated by a white girdle around the waist for a crisp and capable overall look. Gloves and over-the-knee white socks made the visual division of the black-and-white color scheme even cleaner, while the black patent leather chunky-heeled Mary Janes on my feet not only elongated the leg proportions visually, but also stood out under the flash thanks to the high-reflectivity material. As for props, I prepared a thin black blade and a yellow long sheath. The slender black blade complemented the cool tone of the outfit perfectly, while the yellow scabbard served as a bright visual highlight within this black-and-white scheme, keeping the overall composition from looking monotonous.

In terms of posing, I tried various postures to adapt to the mall environment. There were dynamic stances with one leg raised and weight shifted, which showcased the leg lines and garment tailoring well while taking advantage of a low-angle shot to make the silhouette look more imposing. I also did a low combat stance crouching with one hand on the ground; this required core strength and, paired with the black shorts and white stockings, created a sense of tension ready to counterattack at any second. Of course, there were close-up shots pointing the blade directly at the camera, where strong lighting produced lens flare effects that instantly added aggressiveness. I have always felt that the core of this character is fragile yet immensely resilient, just like the line 'If I am not strong, I am not Diamond.' Thus, in controlling my expressions, I tried not to act overly cute or make obvious big expressions, maintaining instead a calm state filled with focus and strength.

The shooting location was actually a public corridor area outside the Taishan Anime Convention venue. There were many passersby and booths, but the light happened to strike the glass doors perfectly, providing us with a great background shield and reflective setup. The photographer was extremely efficient, capturing clean compositions with sharp actions in this limited space during the busy second half of the convention. Though the area was small, using benches and glass doors to frame the background kept the visual focus entirely on the character. Looking back at these photos, the overall tone is cool and tough, with patent leather highlights and wig highlights serving as luminous accents. I feel that the character's pride and purity were conveyed effectively through this set of outdoor convention photos.
