Preparing and shooting this racing-themed outfit for Enterprise from Azur Lane (Corporate cosplay) took far more effort than what meets the eye in the finished photos. My task this time was to recreate Enterprise's classic race queen look; the overall blue-and-white color palette combined with sporty elements matches Enterprise's persona impeccably. To achieve the best presentation, the hairstyle features a long silver-white wig, paired with the signature black peaked cap and goggles, setting a crisp and capable tone right from the start.
The fabric textures and tailoring posed significant challenges. The halter top used elastic fabric to ensure a snug fit, while the white patterns and letter embroidery on the chest required high-precision customization. The deep blue outer jacket seems simple at first glance, but the white stripe patchwork on the sleeves and the light-colored inner lining produce rich dimensional layers under studio lighting. The white belt cinches the waist appropriately, visually elongating body proportions while making the waist cutout a striking highlight.
The most noteworthy item is the deep blue over-the-knee Stockings featuring checkered and lettering prints. In the cosplay community, the right Stockings often dictate the overall harmony of the styling. These over-the-knee socks not only fit snugly, but the anti-slip silicone top band also prevented slipping during large movements. Paired with black pointed-toe high heels, they flatter and elongate leg lines in both sitting and standing poses. Matching blue gloves kept the entire ensemble highly cohesive in color.
Lighting control on the studio shoot day was extremely demanding. To highlight the texture of the silver-white hair and plush white props, we adopted a lighting setup with a key light on one side paired with an overhead light. The solid black backdrop firmly anchored the visual focus onto the subject. The first and third photos capture relatively static moments emphasizing emotional expression through the eyes. Meanwhile, the pose in the second photo—holding the hat with one hand and slightly crossing legs—placed high demands on balance, ensuring stability while letting the jacket drape naturally without looking bulky.
We experimented with multiple angles during this shoot. Full-body seated shots offered a complete view from the hat down to the pointed-toe heels. The combination of navy blue and white presents different color temperatures under varied lighting conditions—appearing cooler under incandescent light, but warmer and softer under strobes. In my view, Anime cosplay is never just mechanically putting on a costume; it's about fine-tuning nuances—like where the gloves fit snugly or how high the goggles sit—to discover a perspective that feels both faithfully accurate and comfortable.
Personally, I feel the biggest success of this project lies in capturing the character's aura. Enterprise inherently radiates an elegant yet powerful presence, and this race queen design seamlessly blends both traits. In the chilly shooting environment, the substantial warmth of the jacket and the snug fit of the Stockings offered a sense of comfort and security. The relaxed yet confident posture in the final photos reflects my genuine immersion during the shoot rather than forced posing.
After discussing with the photographer, we agreed that the contrast between the black background and white plush textures creates a strong light-and-dark dynamic, giving both the silver-white wig and deep blue outfit outstanding sharpness. Reviewing these raw frames gave me a deeper appreciation for refinement in cosplay. Delivering a fantastic visual experience to the audience requires flawless execution at every step: meticulous costume customization upfront, on-set guidance during the studio shoot, and delicate post-processing.
Although this demands great patience, the moment you see the finished photos, every bit of hard work feels completely worth it. This is precisely where the enduring joy of cosplay lies for me.
