The finished images of Amiya's Arknights Fantasy in the Mirage costume are finally released. Two months have passed since the shoot, and the final results perfectly align with my initial expectations. As a deep enthusiast of the Arknights lore, portraying this highly stylized Fantasy in the Mirage outfit has always been a long-held wish of mine.
Let's start with the most eye-catching part: this massive blue wide-brimmed hat is the soul of the entire look. The edge of the hat features delicate white ruffled lace, and the top integrates golden crown-like spike decorations, while the inner lining hides two pink plush rabbit ears. To prevent the hat from tipping over during the shoot, a hidden support structure was actually built inside. Even so, when changing poses, I still had to be extremely careful in controlling the tilt angle of my head to avoid the hat blocking my face or causing a loss of balance.
For the wig, I selected reddish-brown hair with a high-crown styling, a color that creates an excellent complementary effect with my blue pupils. The silver cross-star hair accessory paired on the side adds a touch of agility to the entire hairstyle. For the eye makeup, I used a deep blue-black eyeshadow to echo the light blue colored contacts, striving to present a clear yet melancholic gaze in front of the camera.
Regarding the outfit's styling details, this Fantasy in the Mirage dress adopts a classic black-and-white color-blocking design. The upper body features a slim black cut with very fine, three-dimensional black spike decorations at the neckline, which combines with the outfit's original necklace elements to look both structured and gorgeous. The white skirt of the lower body utilizes multi-layered pleats, which, paired with the blue ribbons wrapped around the arms and the black half-finger gloves on the hands, reveals rich layers when movements unfold. The footwear is a pair of black pointed-toe high heels, and the bright blue criss-cross straps at the ankles are, in my opinion, the part that best echoes the theme of the blue elements.
The set design and lighting for this shoot heavily relied on creating an atmosphere. The photographer specially set up a dark floor with a mirror reflection, paired with blue-purple cool lighting, scattered glowing bottles, a large white bone framework decoration, and blue butterfly specimens. The reflection on the ground forms a perfect vertical symmetry in the frame, making the entire space appear immensely profound. The blue and white bouquet in my hand with a self-illuminating effect serves as both a prop and a light source, becoming the core visual focal point of the image within the blue-lit environment for this Anime-style photography.
The high-light close-up shot further back used a warm side-backlight for fill light. This cool-and-warm contrast instantly transformed the frame from stark to gentle, illuminating the golden reflections of the hair strands while highlighting the contours of the cheeks. Although the shooting process was somewhat tedious due to constantly adjusting poses, expressions, and gestures, seeing the final finished product present such a narrative-rich Cosplay photoshoot made it all worthwhile. I hope this set of Fantasy in the Mirage can convey that mysterious and quiet beauty of the character.
