[Coraline Caroline Cosplay] Shuttle Through the Vintage Toy Shop in Dongjiaxi with Yellow Raincoat and Blue Hair

This Cosplay photoshoot chose Dongjiaxi Flea Market as a real-world location. The overall shooting concept was to recreate that eerie, fantastical sense of exploration through strong visual contrast and spatial distortion.

During early location scouting, I noticed the vintage clutter, dense bookshelves, and piled-up old toys had great visual tension. Lighting in many corners was perfect for mood photos. The visual focus of this look lies in the large area of bright yellow raincoat and cool-toned blue wig—this color clash itself is very striking. Adding freckle makeup on the face gives the character a more raw, authentic texture. For props, the black key at the collar and the small red leather bus toy at hand were small items used to reinforce narrative in this set.

A 10mm fisheye lens was heavily used during the shoot. Fisheye lens photography with wide-angle distortion is indeed a double-edged sword. In cramped shop environments like Dongjiaxi, it pulls bookshelves originally parallel to walls directly into an enveloping arch, making the entire space present an oppressively whimsical atmosphere that perfectly aligns with this character's experience exploring \"The Other World\". During shooting, I heavily alternated between high-angle and low-angle shots. High angles incorporate small wooden chairs and plush toys on the floor, creating a sense of solitude surrounded by toys; low angles combine with raising the raincoat hood with both hands to emphasize all features of the overall styling.

Later, a series of shots were taken through a glass claw machine, leveraging glass reflections and foreground blur to present a visual effect of interwoven isolation and reality. Set inside a crowded shop full of old items and toys, yellowish warm light shone on the yellow raincoat, creating a strong cool-warm contrast with the cool blue wig that instantly established a retro fantasy tone. Color grading in post-production leaned toward vintage film, highlighting the saturation of yellow-blue collisions while dampening ambient light slightly to maintain an overall gloomy atmosphere.

Location shoots like this have more vitality than studio sets. Rich details in flea markets act like built-in props; without needing deliberate staging, walking a few steps leads to sets that seamlessly integrate with character traits, making my shooting experience at Dongjiaxi complete.
