Today, I appeared as Ishtar from Fate/Grand Order. This blue and white dress delivers a striking visual impact. The combination of dark navy blue and white forms the main body of the Cosplay costume, while the gold straps and trimmings extending from the waist to the collar firmly support the character's magnificent and high-profile vibe. The two dark blue ribbon bows on top of the head modify the face shape while echoing the blue of the skirt visually. To keep the overall visual effect close to the original setting, the wig chosen this time features a natural shine in black, paired with layered bangs and long curls, faithfully restoring her hairstyle without making the makeup look out of place. The makeup treatment this time was relatively clean, focusing on eyeshadow color coordination and eye contouring, with reddish-pink contact lenses adding a cool and lofty look to the eyes.
Regarding the design of this Cosplay costume, there are many noteworthy details. Right in the middle of the collar bow sits a teardrop-shaped red gem, serving as a perfect finishing touch that breaks the blue-and-white monotony while focusing the upper body's visual center on the face and chest area. The upper portion of the dress features 3D tailoring combined with puff sleeves, distinctly highlighting feminine curves while retaining the light, airy feel characteristic of Anime-style photography. The gold crisscross straps at the waist are directly embedded into the fabric surface, creating a waist-cinching effect while accentuating metallic splendor. The skirt section is the biggest highlight, adorned with wide white ruffles and dazzling gold lines. The skirt has rich layering; as I walked, the skirt naturally spread with each step, producing stunning light and shadow effects under the venue lights.
This photo shoot took place at a large event during an elegant anime convention, where the lighting conditions were quite complex, with top spotlights creating bright glare. However, with the photographer's help, utilizing these top lights actually enhanced the sheen of the wig and the reflections on the dress's gold trimming. The shooting process required frequent skirt-lifting poses. Although this motion looks simple, ensuring every layer of the skirt displayed a beautiful fan-like curve required repeatedly adjusting my arm strength and angles. Because the wide sleeves easily alter the overall silhouette with large arm movements, we attempted many jumps and freeze-frame poses to capture the best moment. Despite strong indoor air conditioning, wearing the thick wig and buttoned collar through several photo sets felt quite warm, requiring occasional makeup touch-ups and bang adjustments.
As for portraying Ishtar's aura, as described in the post, it's a coexisting sense of being "elegant, gorgeous, and bold." Her pride and confidence need to be conveyed through body language. Therefore, during the shoot, I didn't deliberately pose with overly pleasing expressions, but maintained a relatively serene look with slightly upturned lips and a relaxed gaze, better fitting the character's detached perspective overlooking all beings. While visually bold, the front ruffled apron and dark top form a balanced contrast, keeping the outfit from being overly exposing while showcasing feminine curves and leg lines. Importantly, the white apron and white collar trim reflected light beautifully onto my face, providing natural fill light and saving a lot of effort in adjusting aperture and shutter speed on site.
Overall, the photo shoot at this convention was exceptionally smooth. Huge thanks to the photographer for capturing those skirt-lifting moments, allowing the blue, white, and gold color trio to display a delicate sense of layering in the frame. From the wig and headpieces to collar details and skirt folds, every inch radiates the crafted texture unique to two-dimensional garments. For enthusiasts who love attending conventions and Anime-style photography, bringing a beloved character to life and freezing it in photos is deeply fulfilling. Although the costume uses substantial material, it maintained a crisp silhouette standing before the booth without collapsing, allowing an effortless immersion into the anime atmosphere. In the end, one can't help but admire how impossible it is not to love this classic red, blue, white, and gold combination.
