[Cinderella Cosplay] Aqua-Blue Sheer Tulle and Crystal Shoes Above the Mirror

This Cinderella outfit, composed of a sheer tulle skirt and long light-purple curly hair, is one of my most satisfying sets of shots recently. From conception to the final cuts, we tried to find a balance between the fairy tale character and personal aesthetics. Although OOC was mentioned in the post, I believe that character interpretation itself can have many different readings. This time, I leaned more towards showcasing a dreamy, hazy texture rather than pursuing absolute restoration of every single detail.

The design highlight of the costume lies in that layer of ice-blue sheer tulle skirt, where the cascading ruffles form a sharp contrast with the white inner lining base. The thin tulle itself carries a bit of transparency, which, combined with the exquisite lace-up details, creates a very soft halo under the studio lighting. The weightlessness of the outer sheer tulle ripples naturally with the airflow, while the hem position just reveals the white lining inside, guaranteeing no accidental exposure while preserving visual layers. It's light in texture, looking as if it could flutter with the wind at any time—this is my concrete material expression of the Cinderella image. For the headpiece, I used a matching color system of tulle lace trim and silver tiara elements, blending seamlessly with the overall light purple hair strands to present a pure and cool state.

For the makeup processing, I deliberately maintained a clear and fair skin base, paired with a light-colored eye look, striving to weaken the realism of the human face and increase an exquisite level similar to a BJD doll. In a well-lit environment, the matte texture of the base makeup forms a beautiful contrast with the watery reflection of the eye makeup. The wig is light purple long curly hair, fluffy and smooth in texture. During the shoot, combined with expression management, it perfectly radiates a unique temperament that is aloof yet gentle. This doll-like makeup and styling along with the hair color is highly photogenic in front of the lens, effectively reducing the heaviness of traditional fairy tales, making it more youthful and modern, which also fits perfectly with my personal Japanese-style exquisite photography style.

During the shooting process, what impressed me the most was the single-leg standing pose in the second image. Stepping on high-platform transparent heels with a crystal texture, while placing my entire center of gravity on a smooth mirror surface, placed extremely high demands on core body strength and sense of balance. The material of the transparent heel is very hard with a tiny pressure point, requiring me to mobilize my entire body's muscle groups to maintain balance. The arms had to bend naturally while holding the skirt hem, and I had to maintain a smile at the freeze-frame moment. I probably tried this posture a dozen times before snapping the most natural instant. The mirror underfoot not only elongates the leg lines but also forms a gorgeous reflection, greatly enhancing the frame's sense of space and fantasy color. That feeling of pressing the center of gravity in mid-air highly tested limb control.

The setup of the entire scene was also very meticulous. The huge European vintage carved armchair in the background, along with the scattered metal picture frames around it, provided a classical and magnificent backdrop for this outfit. The black-and-gold chair formed a warm-and-cool contrast with the ice-blue dress. The white side table on the right with Roman column elements, topped with an exquisite teacup, also echoed those elements related to courts and castles in the Cinderella story through details. The design of the mirror platform integrated this classical style with modern studio shooting techniques, concentrating the centerpiece of the overall frame more on the figure itself.

Regarding the OOC controversy surrounding this look, I personally hold an open attitude. In the process of role-playing, being able to re-interpret a beloved character in one's own way is a very interesting thing. I didn't want to completely detach from the original work; instead, I wanted to present the image in my heart with more modern and lightweight materials. It might not be realistic enough, but what I pursue is such an exquisite expression of self. The matching of props and the overall color tone were planned entirely based on the core emotion of a dreamy girl, rather than simply restoring for the sake of restoration.

During the studio lighting setup, the light needed multiple adjustments to highlight the shimmering effect of the dress. The coverage area of the softbox had to be large enough to illuminate both the entire person and the background, avoiding overly harsh shadows while retaining the layers beneath the skirt hem. For the final cuts obtained, I'm quite satisfied with both the color tone and the character's state. The fatigue after the shoot was very worthwhile. Every time I participate in such a precise makeup and styling shoot, it allows me to feel where my passion for this hobby lies, which is also one of the driving forces to keep pursuing this hobby.
