This time, I'm sharing a Finished set of Sparkle cosplay from Honkai: Star Rail. The shooting location was an indoor studio filled with vintage industrial vibes—red brick walls and distressed leather sofas served as the primary backdrop, which, combined with warm and moody lighting, perfectly complemented the sharp red, black, and white contrast of Sparkle's outfit. The garment craftsmanship is exquisite: the skirt features layered white tulle overlaid with a red-and-black checkerboard pattern, while the outer red off-shoulder coat is lined with delicate scalloped white trim and black cat and rabbit motifs across the chest. The patterns on the coat sleeves are packed with intricate details, requiring some time to arrange when putting it on. The prop was that long red staff adorned with an eye and a red boxing glove ornament at the tip. Because the staff is quite long and hefty, maintaining balance in hand was crucial to avoid looking stiff. I experimented with single-handed propping and diagonal holding before finding that sweet spot of playful yet dangerous charm. Holding this staff for long periods left my wrist sore, requiring several breaks midway to shake it out.

For makeup, red contact lenses were the focal point, paired with red eyeshadow blending and deep eyeliner to give the gaze an all-seeing, subtly mischievous demeanor. The long white wig caught gorgeous highlights under the studio lamps, accessorized on the side with black ribbons and red cords, with parts pinned up into an updo for a cleaner look. During styling, I also deliberately adjusted how the bangs framed the eyes to enhance the character's sense of mystery.

Throughout the shoot, the photographer utilized a variety of camera angles. To accentuate the character's silhouette, several low-angle upward shots were selected—such as sitting on the sofa with legs extended naturally and toes touching the floor. Under a wide-angle lens, this angle elongated the legs tremendously. Wearing black platform combat boots with red ankle straps made the leg lines look exceptionally sleek on camera, with the framing sitting just right. I also tried crossing my legs over the knee, another great pose for stretching visual proportions. Another close-up featured my hand reaching toward the lens: with the red glove as foreground bokeh, the shallow depth of field pulled crisp focus onto my face, giving my gaze strong piercing power.

We designed numerous poses for this session: glancing back in profile, making peace signs, and resting the staff horizontally across my lap. Since they were all seated on the sofa, large dynamic movements were limited, relying mainly on upper body tilts and leg positioning to create varied visual moods. For instance, the chin-resting shot with crossed legs paired with a downward camera gaze instantly brought out that haughty tsundere attitude. To keep the tulle skirt voluminous, I added a petticoat underneath, requiring constant manual adjustments to let the fabric flare out naturally whenever shifting seated postures.

In post-processing color grading, we preserved the warm amber tone of the background red bricks while darkening ambient surroundings to highlight the red and white of the costume, giving the black shadows deeper contrast. Camera focus was pin-sharp, clearly preserving delicate flyaway hair strands and lace edges along the garment. Although seated on a sofa, the angle of the crossed legs was refined through multiple takes to capture that sense of continuous visual extension. Particularly for the cover photo featuring elongated legs, the subject had to remain dead center without cropping, which we carefully pre-framed during shooting. The overall texture turned out fantastic, and I hope everyone can feel the delightfully adorable yet mischievous 2D essence of this character.
