[Kaenbyou Rin cosplay] Touhou Project Day 1 Convention photos: Dark style and Gothic style on point

For Day 1 of the convention, I cosplayed the fanon design of Kaenbyou Rin from Touhou Project, commonly known as the cat cart. We spent the entire morning on makeup and styling; choosing this Dark style Gothic style dress definitely added noticeable heft while walking around.

The short red wig paired with red colored contacts created a striking visual contrast against the black lace, dark green bow, and the red rose on the chest. This costume has numerous details, especially the corseted waist with metal studs, which took all morning to adjust to maintain its silhouette; fortunately, the resulting photos on-site were very satisfying. The lace patchwork on the shoulders and the sleeves have rich texture, fluttering naturally as I walked.

Special thanks to photographer @Suika for capturing these snapshots in the noisy convention environment. The overhead venue lights formed beautiful bokeh in the background; this backlighting perfectly accentuated the vivid red hair and the silhouette of the dark outfit, instantly elevating the atmosphere on-site.

For props, I held a prepared skull prop: in Photo 1, holding the skull frontally while looking at the camera; Photo 2 turning sideways; Photo 3 looking upward; Photo 4 holding the skull up with one hand facing the camera. Combined with the red eyes and cat ears in such a massive convention setting where lighting is unpredictable, achieving these shots took immense effort. The fanon Dark style blends with the world of Touhou Project with exceptional synergy. Walking around the convention with animal ears and intricate lace accessories was exhausting, especially having to protect the wig and ornaments in thick crowds. However, seeing the ideal result of holding the skull with the red hair styling brought a deep sense of accomplishment. I'm sharing these finished Convention photos to show the real convention experience and costume details.
