[Marisa Kirisame cosplay] Touhou Project, The Alternative Design Magician in Front of the Fountain - Image 1

This set of Marisa Kirisame alternative design photos shot in front of a European fountain can finally be shared with everyone. Although I didn't use the most traditional, classic red-black-white color scheme this time, I personally prefer the gorgeous feel brought by this alternative design.

Regarding the clothing, the design of this black and white dress is highly intricate. Plenty of white lace and black bows were added to the large wide-brimmed hat, capturing a witch's mystery while adding a touch of elegance. The waist-cinching design of the top is very form-fitting, which, combined with the lace ruffles at the neckline and cuffs, makes the overall silhouette highly three-dimensional. The layered skirt hem at the bottom is lightweight and flowing, looking even more vibrant against the backdrop of the fountain's mist. I also paired it with patterned black tights and lace-up high-heeled boots, filling the entire look with details from head to toe.

Turning to the props, this broom can be called the soul of the entire look. To fit the "alternative design" setting, instead of using a simple wooden broom, I wrapped simulated vines and moss around the long handle, further decorating the top with a few flowers and green leaves. This natural embellishment endowed the originally inanimate prop with a breath of life and a fairytale feel, as if it were truly potion materials casually harvested from a magical forest.

The sunlight on the day of the shoot was very abundant, and the light was quite harsh. The intense overhead sunlight and the mist splashed by the fountain intertwined, creating an excellent high-light atmosphere. The European stone corridor arches and flowing water columns in the background added a highly rich touch of Western classical fantasy to the frames. During the shoot, I ran back and forth many times to catch the moments of the splashing water and the flying skirt; although it was a bit exhausting, seeing the effects in the original photos made me feel that everything was completely worth it.

Actually, when conceiving this set of photos, I cared deeply about the flamboyant and free spirit inherently exuded by the character Marisa Kirisame. The alternative design gave us more room to play, allowing us to incorporate our own aesthetics and personality into the costume and props while preserving the character's core charm. The combination of the black and white color scheme and natural elements attempted this time is precisely a direction I really wanted to present.

In post-color grading, I also tried my best to lower the saturation and contrast, leaning the image towards a slightly soft, retro tone, but without losing the translucent quality of the sunlight hitting the white stones and fountain. I coordinated with the photographer for a long time during the shoot, and we finally snapped postures that fit the Magician's proud yet slightly playful nature.

In short, this outdoor shoot experience was highly pleasant. From selecting and modifying the costume, handcrafting the props, to finding composition spots on the day of the shoot, every single step gave me a deeper understanding of this outfit. I hope this set of works allows everyone to see a slightly different, yet still charming and imaginative Magician.
