[Ganyu Cosplay] A Touch of Ethereal Blue at an Ordinary Convention

Getting this Ganyu convention photo at a small, ordinary anime convention makes me feel it's the most satisfying one from this trip. Although the venue isn't as luxurious as large-scale exhibitions, the cool-toned indoor lighting and the reflections on the marble floor provided a wonderful atmosphere for the shoot. The main body of this Ganyu outfit consists of a white high-neck ruffled inner layer paired with a long black trench coat. The tailoring of the trench coat is very sharp, and the slit design at the hem perfectly reveals the leg lines. For the wig, I selected a light blue-and-white gradient style, and combined with the red and black horn decorations on the head, I feel the overall completion is as close to the original design as possible. The thick-soled black glossy Mary Jane shoes paired with black tights add a touch of refinement and visually elongate the body proportions.

Many people encounter background clutter when taking photos at conventions, but choosing the right angle is very important. For example, in an environment with a large glass curtain wall and a reflective mirror floor, lowering the camera position slightly and opening up the wide-angle lens can avoid those cluttered booths and passersby, creating a sense of space instead. In terms of lighting, the cool white light coming down from the circular spotlights on-site illuminated the white hair transparently, instantly bringing out the "ethereal" vibe of this photo.

As a coser, body language during a shoot is also key. This time, I tried a slightly turned, cross-legged standing pose, shifting the body's center of gravity onto the high heels while naturally overlapping my hands in front of my chest. This not only prevents the hands from looking stiff but also makes the long black coat look broader and more stylish. The gaze doesn't need to force itself onto the camera; keeping a naturally relaxed state is just fine.

As for post-processing, I didn't do too many exaggerated deformations or color adjustments. I mainly toned down the highlights so the reflections on the floor wouldn't be too glaring, and softly blurred the surrounding light spots to highlight the subject. I believe that cosplay photography doesn't always require extremely luxurious studio shoots. Capturing that moment of light and shadow in a real space filled with the atmosphere of daily life, like an ordinary convention, actually offers more realism and interactivity.

This convention experience made me realize that while the details of props and costumes are important, interacting with the environment and having a sense of relaxation in front of the lens can equally determine the success or failure of a photo. This photo is also a validation of my preparation before doing this casual cosplay look. In addition to putting on the costume, the wig was meticulously styled, with the position of every strand of bangs adjusted. It's truly not easy to quietly take a few sets of good photos at a crowded convention venue with people passing by, so I also want to thank the photographer who helped that day for capturing my most composed expression. If any friends are also trying to shoot in similar venues, you might want to make more use of the ceiling light sources and floor reflections, which often yields unexpectedly pleasant surprises.
