As soon as summer break arrived, I found myself getting terribly bored and wanted to find something to do. So I put Wig stylist daily life commissions on the agenda! Recently, I've finished several wig styling projects, organized my selfie photos wearing them along with some standalone wig works, and posted them here for fellow cosplayers in need to check out.
First, let me talk about my commission details. It's basically 60 RMB per wig, a budget price that covers bangs trimming, hair crimping for volume, full styling, and final glitter embellishments. Next, let's talk about the works in the photos. The first collage shows how they look when I wear them myself—four completely different styles ranging from short to long hair, and cool to warm tones. The top-left blue short hair has a lovely sheen, paired with a dark purple top and pink collar for a clean look, with layered bangs to avoid a stiff appearance. The top-right pink medium-long hair features a red-and-white bow on top as the finishing touch; the volume is well-controlled without feeling heavy, making it a perfect match for a sailor uniform. The bottom-left light blue long straight hair includes a hat I styled myself, with softened hairline wisps and sideburns to flatter face shapes gently, paired with an under-eye mole for a vintage, elegant feel. The bottom-right yellow-pink twintails feature a very natural gradient at the ends, with adjusted height and curvature, looking full of vitality alongside a yellow-and-white vest.
Now let's talk about the three individual wig works following that, which are shown unworn or freshly finished. In Figure 2, the dark blue long straight hair focuses on side braiding details—I hand-braided this pigtail, secured its position, and combined it with sleek, straight ends, making it ideal for cool or dark gothic characters. In Figure 3, the ice-blue long hair has a striking color that easily looks fake, so I intentionally added wet-look texturing, crafting naturally layered bangs rather than a straight blunt cut to create an ethereal aura when paired with eye makeup. In Figure 4, the yellow-pink gradient bob combines spray dyeing and hand-picked coloring; the top is bright yellow while the tips transition softly into pink, with slightly curled bang edges to prevent stiffness. Short hair wig styling actually tests layering even more than long hair, and I am super satisfied with this finished result.
When taking commissions normally, besides the style itself, I pay close attention to hair smoothness and luster, because once a wig becomes frizzy, the effect is completely ruined. Therefore, every time I use a crimper iron to volumize inner layers while keeping outer strands smooth and straight, achieving airiness without messy puffiness. As for glitter, I usually sprinkle it near hair ends or hair ornaments to enhance overall delicacy, making it super eye-catching under summer sunlight.
Lately, I've been particularly interested in Girl band themes. Characters from works like PJSK and BanG Dream! have vibrant designs with bold color palettes and rich hair accessories, making them especially challenging and fun to work on.
