[Columbina Cosplay] Everyday Life of Genshin Impact's Damselette: Borrowed Outfit Quick White Studio Photoshoot During Banner Hype

While the banner hype is still high, I quickly pulled out the outfit and wig borrowed from my bestie to set up a quick white studio photoshoot at home over the holiday. I've always really liked this character's design, and jumping at the chance to borrow the gear, I immediately headed into my home studio setup to shoot.

First, about the outfit experience: the white-dominant color scheme with blue accents looks very refreshing, but wearing it requires some adjustments—especially the neck cutout decoration, which tests secure fastening. However, the overall material is more breathable than expected, so it didn't feel overly stuffy even under hot studio lights indoors. Wig styling was a point I was super satisfied with; the black-to-red gradient at the tips is highly recognizable, and the bangs were kept thick to frame the face nicely. The subtle shimmer in the hair strands under studio lighting gave off that magical touch unique to Genshin Impact characters.

The shooting process was actually quite fast, since operating solo meant focusing key efforts on camera timers and light placement. I specifically used two layers of softboxes with the white backdrop to eliminate harsh shadows, making the overall image cleaner and softer to maximize the character's airy feel from official art. For pose ideas, I didn't force extravagant movements, choosing instead a serene sitting pose with hands clasped in front of me, paired with a semi-transparent white blindfold veil covering most of my face, keeping my eyes closed. Shooting this closed-eye picture was mainly to convey that fragile yet mysterious aura when the character quiets down; since I often post open-eyed shots, posting a completely relaxed, peaceful state felt very fitting for her ethereal atmosphere.

As for future plans, I've already talked with my bestie—for the remaining photos, I plan to try adding post-processing special effects myself. Adding light/shadow effects and particle elements from the fantasy world of Genshin Impact should take the overall photo quality up a notch. Hopefully through post-processing, that ethereal presence can be strengthened further, going beyond outfit accuracy to capture her distinct temperament and story.

Since most time was spent tuning lights and props, I chose a clean, translucent makeup style without heavy eyeshadow. The focus was on a uniform base makeup, as a white backdrop eats up makeup, and an uneven base looks fatigued. With the eye mask covering much of the face, eye makeup could be minimized so visual focus falls naturally on the mask's structural design and outfit details around the collarbone. Wig styling actually took a lot of effort, especially the back of the head, where inner padding mesh was used to prevent flat spots while balancing smooth hair texture and natural integration with red tips.

This trial made me realize that high-quality results don't always require complex backgrounds or elaborate studio sets; a pure white studio photoshoot can deliver a clean, crisp visual presentation. As long as cosplay details in outfit, makeup, and hair are handled well and lighting highlights material textures, a textured photo is guaranteed. After all, the origin of cosplay is love for the character and a dedicated attitude. I'm excited for the remaining unreleased photos and will share the full set once special effects are complete.
