[Futaba Sakura cosplay] Persona 5 Everyday Mature Senior Vibes in a School Uniform

From deciding to put this outfit together until now, the whole process has been smoother than I expected, especially after finishing these phone selfies today—that natural feeling belonging to the character has slowly come out.

Wanting to recreate the character of Futaba Sakura is not just about looking similar on the outside; more importantly, it's about accurately capturing that temperament of hers—seeming to exist outside the crowd but being exceptionally reliable and agile. Since today's positioning is a "mature senior," the overall presentation shouldn't be too rigid. Instead, it should create an ambient feel as if you could bump into her just by looking up on campus.

The fabric texture of this black blazer coat is quite nice, and paired with the red buttons, it catches the essence immediately. The white shirt inner layer and plaid pleated skirt are also standard Japanese school uniform style. However, to stay true to the character's setting, the iconic over-ear headphones absolutely cannot be missing; the moment I put them on, the completion level of the entire look can be said to maximize directly. Especially the orange long hair—this time I specially processed the layers at the hair ends and the cowlick on top of the head for the wig styling, seeking a visual effect that is both smooth and carries a bit of a science student's casual randomness.

During the shooting process, the main thing I considered was the choice of angles. Because I was using the phone's front camera for mirror selfies, the body's extension became particularly important. In Figures 1 and 2, I tried relatively lively scissor-hand movements, and the placement of the legs was adjusted as well. Especially in Figure 2, to break the rigid constraint that comes with sitting looking somewhat serious, I naturally lifted my left leg, letting the black over-the-knee socks contouring the thigh section become a visual focus of the frame. Paired with the casually tilted toes, it instantly livened up the entire composition. These black long stockings have an exceptionally strong flattering effect on the leg lines, and combined with that tiny bit of absolute territory revealed beneath the pleated skirt, it beautifully recreates the character's slightly detached yet eye-catching mature senior aura.

In Figure 3, I simply took off my shoes and socks and sat barefoot on the ground. This was actually an idea I had during a gap in the shoot. Because in her setting, the character itself is a rather shut-in, unconventional person, switching to this relaxed barefoot state allows the pictures to present a more lifelike and down-to-earth side. Although the shoes are thick-soled loafers which fit the school uniform perfectly, maintaining a fully armored look the whole time would instead lose some of the character's inherent looseness. Meanwhile, this switch from wearing shoes to bare feet also added storytelling and layers to the entire set of photos.

Regarding the shooting background this time, I specially chose a pure white wall surface and a plush rug. The low-saturation environment can maximize the prominence of the character itself, while simultaneously preventing a cluttered background from distracting the viewer's attention. As a set of cosplay photography work, keeping the composition as clean and sleek as possible is a relatively safe approach, and direct output from a phone or camera can yield good texture. This time, I didn't deliberately look for complex outdoor scenes, feeling instead that this minimalist indoor set, along with a simple everyday prop like a metal folding chair, fits the setting of "a senior taking selfies at home or in the club activity room" perfectly.

To be honest, being able to capture a state I'm satisfied with without relying heavily on heavy filter modification still brings a great sense of accomplishment. Today's lighting environment also helped a lot, with no dead blacks or overexposure, making the blazer fabric and hair texture clearly visible. This costume and makeup design deepened my understanding of Futaba Sakura quite a bit. Actually, the blending of the two traits "chunibyo" and "mature senior" in one person isn't that fractured; instead, it generates a unique charm precisely due to this contrast.
