Shooting Canaan this time, what I most wanted to try was that mysterious and slightly detached atmosphere of the Western Regions. For the styling, I chose a combination of dark-toned light gauze and leather armor. The gold hollow-out patterns and bead embellishments on the headpiece are just right, especially the pair of side metal earrings, which emit a subtle gleam when turning. The focus of the makeup was placed on the contrast between the eyeshadow and lip color, pairing green pupils with red lips and slightly darkening the brow shape, aiming to make the eyes look more narrative. The scene holding the candlestick in the picture was an impromptu idea on set; the smoke combined with backlighting instantly brought out the sense of atmosphere in the entire frame.
A lot of thought actually went into handling the costume details—the totem patterns at the neckline and the metal rings on the arms were individually custom-made. Although it's a hassle to put on and take off, it's worth it to fit the character's original setting. During the shoot, I specifically experimented with different angles. For example, the close-up shot with a slightly tilted head in the second photo, where the scattered hair strands and casually hanging pendants convey the character's state of coexistence between laziness and alertness. This set of photos didn't undergo too many changes in light and shadow structure during post-processing; it mainly preserved the clash between the dark cool tones of the scene and the warm candlelight. I hope what is presented is not just a facial resemblance, but Canaan's independent and resilient temperament in the world of NARAKA.
