When lifting this Ruan, the light happened to fall on the tips of my hair, creating a tiny highlight. This shoot didn't involve deliberately arranging complex studio lighting; instead, we directly chose a corner inside the exhibition hall, utilizing the contrast between naturally scattered top lighting and the dark ambient tones to create the atmosphere. Because these photos were taken during an independent anime convention tour, the whole process was actually very spontaneous. The focus was to express that aloof, intellectual vibe of the character, as well as the Chinese-style cosplay charm in the outfit details.

For the styling, I chose a white and blue color-blocked modified Chinese-style long dress. The upper body features a white off-the-shoulder design with delicate floral patterns and lace on the edges. The touch of a soft pink bow at the neckline, paired with an emerald gem clasp, provides the most striking color contrast of the whole outfit while also elevating the overall look. To match the overall color palette, the hairstyle retains black hair as a base but features a cyan-blue gradient highlight at the ends. Combined with 3D white and cyan floral headpieces, the layers of the head styling become much richer. The blue contact lenses are highly translucent in dim light; paired with slightly elongated eyeliner and rosy lip makeup, I hope to recreate that quiet and slightly distant Onee-san cosplay impression of the character.

Prop preparation is also extremely important. This time, I brought along a folding fan with a black base and pink floral prints, as well as a traditional plucked string instrument resembling a Yueqin. These two props gave me a lot of room for body movements during the photoshoot. For example, holding the fan with one hand to half-cover the face makes one look more reserved and gentle; while holding the Ruan with both hands overlapped on the strings naturally straightens the posture, showing a more composed and elegant demeanor. Especially in the final full-body shot, the pose of holding the instrument with one hand while standing on one leg really tests your balance. Fortunately, the skirt hem and the long trailing fabric provided a great sense of visual extension in the moment of stillness. Plus, those cyan-blue high heels and the lace leg warmers at the ankles, combined with the high slit design, perfectly showcased the leg lines.

I really want to thank the photographer Quan this time. Since it was an independent anime convention tour shoot, the crowd flow and time schedule in the venue required extra coordination. The selection of lighting and background, as well as how to avoid messy crowds, truly tested our synergy. We specifically utilized the darker floor and background in the venue to highlight the main subject, making the character's color tones and silhouette clearer. When shooting prop close-ups and full-body angles, Quan meticulously found the right angle for the reflector, ensuring the skin tone transition remained smooth and natural even in a dark environment.

Looking back at this set of photos, the emotions actually resonate with the poetic mood of the quote: "Every petal in life, no matter how fully it blooms, will eventually be blown away by the wind." This character inherently carries a sense of detachment, having seen the rise and fall of things. The floral embroidery on the clothes and the flower decorations on the head all echo that elegant beauty. Doing this kind of cosplay in a real convention environment, even though the surroundings are noisy and crowded, the moment you hold your props steadily, adjust your breathing, and stand firm in front of the lens, you can instantly enter the state belonging to this character. I hope this set of works with a spontaneous vibe can let everyone feel the three-dimensional sense of this look in real life and that unique classical elegance of Honkai: Star Rail.
