[Touhou Project Seiga Kaku Cosplay] Wandering in Search of Immortality and Preaching: Celestial Moments in the Backlit Ancient Alley

This Seiga Kaku outfit was actually brewing for a long time, and it wasn't until I stepped into this ancient alley that everything felt right for a photoshoot. What is captured in these photos is precisely the ethereal aura of "seeking immortality," "preaching," and "wandering" that I tried to grasp in the alleyways when wearing this outfit for the first time.

This character styling heavily tests attention to detail, as her hairstyle is highly recognizable. To recreate that iconic blue ring-shaped bun, I deliberately practiced pre-styling several times, accentuating it with silver hairpins that gleam nicely under bright light. The overall outfit takes a lightweight, ethereal direction, featuring an elegant combination of soft light aqua green and pure white. The top features an off-the-shoulder ruffled design, leaving room to show off shoulders and collarbones, with rich layers of pleats along the neckline and a pink floral accent on the chest to break the monotony of cool tones. A black corset was specifically fitted around the waist, preventing the long dress from looking bulky while raising the waistline to optimize overall body proportions.

What I'm most satisfied with are the ethereal, translucent white gauze ribbons on my arms and the multi-layered light mesh design of the skirt. As you can see, when one arm stretches outward, the white gauze drapes down naturally. The upper portion of the skirt features delicate floral embroidery, while the lower part finishes with voluminous white ruffled trim. Paired with classic white short socks and black platform loafers, it adds an extra touch of character composure to the ancient style photography outfit. The fabric of this outfit is extremely lightweight; even a slight turn makes the gauze dance along.

The success of these photos also owes much to the lighting that day. Shot by photographer @不列颠大魔女, we specifically chose the late afternoon when sunlight shines slantwise. Backlighting hit the white gauze of the skirt and the edges of my hair, forming sharp rim highlights. As sunlight filtered through the semi-transparent fabric, it gave the quiet outfit a breathing sense of life. The surrounding old alleyway, eaves, and wooden plank doors, paired with yellowing leaves scattered on the ground, created a serene, primitive seasonal mood. That feeling of light piercing through dust truly mirrored the ambiance of cultivating in the mortal realm straight out of the game or lore.

Pacing back and forth and twirling in this ancient alley was all to capture that interplay between motion and stillness. Maintaining a cool, aloof demeanor while using body movement to make the gauze dress flow requires some accumulated experience. This shoot also gave me a deeper understanding of fabric textures and light reflection. The photographer's composition was fantastic: vertical close-ups caught expression nuances and lighting details, while horizontal shots established the surrounding environment—incorporating buildings, trees, and winding paths to enhance the narrative feel of the images.

In short, this outdoor photoshoot was a faithful recreation of the original mood, bringing that mysterious, otherworldly aura from the game and setting into a real-world ancient alley. I hope these photos convey the cool, graceful, and ethereal spirit of the character herself.
