Bringing Cartethyia's Elf style into reality, the greatest effort went into controlling the texture of the greatsword prop and the overall costume. The dimensions of this sword were indeed heftier than expected, but the combination of the golden hilt and the ice-blue blade under professional lighting made its transparency and metallic luster look incredibly realistic, making it perfect as the visual centerpiece of the frame during the shoot. The combination of the white vine-styled headpiece and the elf ears instantly established the character's non-human traits. For the makeup, I specially adjusted a light eye makeup style, using subtle colors to accentuate the clarity of the eye color to match the inner setting of a blonde elf.
The shooting location for the day was an indoor studio featuring Gothic elements. The blue translucent windows in the background and the dark blue totem carpet in the foreground perfectly echoed the black, white, and blue tones of the character's costume within a matching color scheme. The outfit incorporates many semi-sheer lightweight materials, along with a multi-layered ribbon design at the cuffs and waist, giving the fabric an excellent drape when sitting or kneeling. To convey the character's holy yet slightly detached aura, I avoided excessive facial expression changes in the pose design, choosing instead to maintain a calm gaze and use the greatsword as a visual extension to guide the lines of sight.
In fact, when shooting a character where props take up a significant portion of the frame, the most important thing is maintaining visual balance. The photographer's composition was very clever, making the angle of the sword and the tilt of the body complementary so that the prop didn't overpower the scene, but rather enhanced the grandeur of the overall look. For hair and makeup, keeping the wig's high volume required a lot of effort, as blonde hair can easily look frizzy, so I kept combing the strands during the shoot to manage their direction. The base makeup pursued a matte texture to ensure no greasy glare appeared under the intense studio lighting. This shoot completely brought to life the image of the saintess in my heart, and I hope this work allows everyone to see the refined details of my interpretation of the character. I really like the high-slit design of the costume, though it also meant I had to stay mindful of my sitting posture and the risk of wardrobe malfunctions at any moment; thankfully, everyone was extremely professional during the shoot, allowing me to fully focus on delivering the character's state for this piece of Cosplay photography.
