The studio setup was packed with cyberpunk tech aesthetics: illuminated circuit boards and monitor displays in the background were curated specifically to echo game environments. In terms of posing, D.Va is inherently a character bursting with kinetic tension. I explored finger-gun gestures, peace signs, and hands-on-hips three-quarter stances. While bodysuits look stunning, they heavily restrict mobility—lifting arms easily pinches around the armpits, requiring subtle kinetic adjustments to maintain sleek posture. Wearing this gear to conventions like Bilibili World (BW) and ChinaJoy (CJ) with massive crowds proved to be a major workout; every makeup touch-up and wig fix was dedicated to presenting peak condition before the lens. Reflecting on mecha styling, I previously tackled the Unit-01 plugsuit from Evangelion; by comparison, D.Va leans toward a lightweight, competitive esports flair. Cosplaying is always an endurance test of stamina and patience, but the moment the final frames materialized, all exhaustion melted away. Throughout the session, the photographer guided my expressions to capture that confident, slyly mischievous glint so crucial to D.Va's persona. Whether posing with props or barehanded, keeping the core engaged was vital to carve out a sharp, poised silhouette. In retouching, we preserved natural skin texture without excessive airbrushing, allowing the natural play of light to define the frame. Wearing and maintaining these catsuits also demands special care—rolling them up gradually to prevent fingernails from snagging the fabric, followed by hand-washing with neutral detergent and line-drying in the shade away from direct sunlight—all lessons gathered step by step over time.
