[Kiriko cosplay] Shanghai Overwatch Club 1.0 Convention Photo: Fair and Square!

"Seisei doudou, desho?" (Fair and square, right?) With that iconic voice line, this Convention photo recap from the Shanghai Overwatch Club 1.0 gathering kicks off.

Bringing Kiriko to life this round was a blast—the fan meetup atmosphere was electric, and huge credit goes to the photographer for capturing my sharpest angles, earning me the playful nickname 'the handsome Japanese Moses' on set. Today, let's break down the styling choices and shooting process behind this convention set.

Wardrobe-wise, the look centers on a cropped, sleeveless black faux-leather top paired with vibrant scarlet cargo trousers. The waist-mounted tactical rigging and mechanical modular pouches received extra focus during assembly. Under the convention hall's cool-toned downlights, the matte leather sheen sculpted a crisp, athletic silhouette. The relaxed-fit crimson cargos feature white side-stripes, harmonizing effortlessly with chunky tricolor black, white, and red platform sneakers. To elevate her ninja lore, I equipped a tactical arm guard on the left forearm and a fingerless combat glove on the right hand, ensuring dynamic, combat-ready posture whether wielding weapons or striking poses.

For weaponry, the setup featured her signature kunai blades alongside ofuda talismans printed with geometric red-and-black insignias. The kunai possessed solid hand-feel and balanced heft, while pinching the paper charms between my fingers required a deliberate mix of organic tension and strength. A black baseball cap adorned with fox-ear finials, a sky-blue underbrim, short champagne-blonde hair, and red kitsune facial markings instantly locked me into Kiriko's persona.

Because convention halls feature chaotic mixed lighting, seamless synergy with the photographer was critical. To convey her nimble mobility and martial grit, I explored grounded stances: single-knee drops, low athletic squats, and floor-seated poses with a drawn kunai. In these low-slung postures, the cropped top framed clean abdominal lines while the loose cargo pants folded into striking drape dynamics. My ocular focus remained cool and piercing to embody that 'fair and square' resolve.

The purest joy of cosplay is connecting with fellow fans. While the full rig—especially the heavy waist harnesses—carried real weight, total immersion made the strain vanish. Deeply pleased with the prop fidelity and makeup rendering, I look forward to further refining this kit for future Overwatch shoots.
