For this shoot of Jinhsi's peach blossom concept, a tremendous amount of preparation went into the wardrobe. To faithfully convey the layered depth of the pink-and-blue gradient, I meticulously steamed and aligned the gossamer sheer fabric and delicate lace trims. In particular, the red ribbon ties across the chest and cuffs were adjusted repeatedly for knot placement and tension, ensuring they preserved the airy, flowing elegance of the official splash art without adding bulk. As for the wig, to maintain voluminous curves for the silver-white twintails, I used several setting clips and went through nearly half a can of hairspray to tame stray flyaways; paired with the golden hair ornaments and soft pink blossoms, the head styling achieved a rich, dimensional presence.
Regarding makeup, to align with an anime-faithful aesthetic, I wore bright blue contact lenses and swept on pink-purple eyeshadow with slightly elongated eyeliner to accentuate the eye contours. Blush was applied high directly beneath the eyes to impart an innocent, youthful translucence. The original character design carries myriad intricate makeup details, but for the camera, replicating every single line can look muddy under strong studio lighting, so I made strategic subtractions along the edges.
While shooting this Celestial Court theme, the set was adorned with a guzheng zither, red plum blossoms, and calligraphy-inscribed sheer drapery. The base lighting utilized warm tones, complemented by a rear ring fill-light providing crisp rim illumination, crowning the silhouette with a soft halo. For the seated pose in photo 3, I shifted my center of gravity multiple times to avoid the skirt draping over my legs entirely while holding the book gracefully with both hands. The natural hang of the skirt hem alongside white high heels beautifully elongated the visual leg lines.
For the standing poses in photos 1 and 4, the hand gestures referenced in-game spellcasting seals. Forming hand seals requires deliberate finger tension while consciously keeping the shoulders lowered to prevent shortening the neck line. The oversized flowing sleeves easily bunched into folds when lifting my arms, making the photographer's timing crucial. Classical Chinese aesthetics are inherently difficult to capture with effortless ease—balancing prop books and billowing drapery meant the slightest shift could break immersion, so much of the set relied on static tension and nuanced body language.
The overall palette of this photo collection leans warm, where dark-toned wooden furniture and deep red plum blossoms provide an exquisite contrast to the pink-and-blue attire. I hope these frames convey Jinhsi's enchanting charm, with heartfelt gratitude to the photographer for mastering light and shadow to bring the courtly atmosphere to life.
