Regarding this Wuthering Waves Iuno Dunhuang original design photoshoot, we encountered quite a few practical challenges during the process. In terms of wardrobe, while the cropped top highlighted body lines nicely, the heavy beadwork and metal chains pulled it downward during movement, causing it to slip occasionally and requiring serious effort to secure firmly. The bottoms were loose blue-purple harem pants paired with matching sheer chiffon, creating a wonderfully airy visual flow when walking. To harmonize with this attire, I deliberately chose a long, gradient blue wig matched with a gold-adorned veil to immerse myself in character more quickly. The makeup featured reddish eyeshadow and bold red lips to blend naturally with the red drum and crimson carpet in the background without overpowering the blue hair. The backdrop incorporated Dunhuang-inspired green dragon-patterned wallpaper and a circular red carpet, establishing an impactful visual contrast between cool and warm tones. Because the concept called for being barefoot, I had to pay close attention to toe engagement to stand firmly on the circular drum, with the gold anklets chiming gently with each movement. The seated postures and extended leg poses were designed to bring out the character's spirited, mysterious allure. Photographer Nianxun mastered the light and shadow with great precision, using side-backlighting to illuminate the contours of the chiffon while the key light kept the face clean and luminous. The blue glass orb prop was remarkably heavy, and holding the posture gave my arms very real soreness. Stepping barefoot onto the drum felt freezing cold at first, and the drumhead was rather rigid, requiring knee tension to steady myself while my toes naturally gripped the surface—a posture hard to control that took several attempts to capture at its most natural angle. Sitting on the red carpet offered slip resistance, but the texture left red marks on the soles of my feet that had to be brushed off between takes. The sheer fabrics tangled easily while moving, requiring constant smoothing. After the shoot, I realized that presenting clean leg lines meant constantly keeping my core engaged and posture upright to support such an elaborate costume. Through an iterative process of posing and adjusting, we gradually identified the stances that best showcased this Dunhuang original design; both the drum-holding pose and cradling the blue crystal sphere drew inspiration from the celestial apsaras in Dunhuang murals. Throughout this physically demanding session, the makeup artist continually touched up my look to maintain its endurance. In pre-production, I carefully studied Dunhuang murals alongside the character's canon lore. Merging the cool blue tones of the character with the classic warm red-and-green Dunhuang palette was the guiding vision of this shoot. To achieve that unique texture, the gold embroidery on the costume was handcrafted. The poses referenced the postures of dancers in Dunhuang murals, including arched feet and subtle waist twists. I explored various compositions repeatedly to contrast body curves against the grounded weight of the background. Ultimately, continuous bursts and candid shutter clicks captured these spontaneous moments that stayed faithful to the theme. Given the flexibility required, I even did stretching exercises beforehand. Post-processing focused on preserving natural skin textures while emphasizing the contrast between skin tones and the red-and-blue hues. Combining dynamic movement and static poise, the overall aesthetic captured the Dunhuang original design theme seamlessly. Tackling numerous demanding poses I had never attempted before was exhausting, but seeing the final selects made every bit of effort worthwhile.
