For Day 3 of the Firefly ACG Expo, I cosplayed Sigrika from Wuthering Waves. This outfit has a ton of intricate details, and just preparing and organizing everything took quite a while. The vibrant orange wig needed deliberate styling to achieve a natural, voluminous texture, and the braided pigtails on both sides required balanced thickness. Paired with purple ribbons and pointed elf ear prosthetics, the fantasy flair of the character immediately came alive. The color scheme primarily revolves around violet, white, and gold; the top features an off-the-shoulder cut accented with metallic triangular chest ornaments, leading into flowing purple-gradient sleeves edged with fine fringe.
Because I had to walk around the convention floor, I paid extra attention to securing the waist sash and wrist bracers to prevent slipping. Cradling the plush prop with its detailed striped patterns and gear motifs drew plenty of curious glances as I navigated the halls. As an experienced cosplayer, I know that walking a convention isn't just about faithful visual accuracy, but also about practical mobility. I made thoughtful adjustments to the inner base layers and footwear to ensure I could comfortably browse the booths while posing for photos.
Lighting at the convention was intricate, mixing overhead cool white illumination with multicolored stage and booth glow. To make these recap photos pop, the photographer and I scouted areas with balanced ambient fill. The gestures in the shots were largely spontaneous—forming heart signs with my hands or reaching gently toward the camera. Sigrika carries both an enigmatic mystique and a welcoming warmth, and I hoped these engaging poses would transmit that approachable presence to viewers. Meeting fellow fans on the floor who recognized the character and called out her name was deeply rewarding.
The nickname 'Dekopon' started as an inside joke among friends, naturally becoming a playful little memory from this convention. Cosplaying is never as effortless as the final photos make it look—spending an entire day walking the venue in full regalia left my shoulders and feet aching. Yet every time I peeked at the camera screen and saw the shots coming together, every ounce of fatigue vanished. From cutting and setting the wig to fine-tuning the makeup and collaborating seamlessly with the photographer, every single step demanded focus and patience.
To recreate her hairstyle accurately, I started styling the wig a week in advance. The bangs needed a soft arc without clinging flat to the forehead, while the face-framing sideburns shaped the jawline. The most challenging elements were the long, thick braids; to keep their structured curve while in motion, I inserted internal structural wire supports. The pearl ornaments and white bows were anchored by hand onto specific points. Furthermore, the purple ribbons behind the ears underwent multiple adjustments to ensure they blended organically into the wig from every perspective. For makeup, to complement the vivid orange hair, I wore green contact lenses, emphasized the eye contours, and softened the blush for a clean, porcelain finish.
On the show floor, I crossed paths with photographers keen on wardrobe craftsmanship, discussing how to best convey the gradient transitions through lighting and framing. Suggestions included extending my arms forward or clasping my hands to accentuate the geometric bracers and textured layering. I also tried resting my hands near my collarbone to emphasize the triangular metallic embellishment and neckline. While the venue bustled with crowds and clutter, shooting with a wide aperture melted the crowds and stanchions into soft bokeh, locking focus squarely onto the character and costume.
This convention run was immensely fulfilling. From makeup application to on-site shooting and post-processing curation, immense energy went into each phase. The purple gradient sleeves, white mandarin collar, and detailed hardware were repeatedly cross-checked against official character art. I hope this set conveys the design's unique charm. Looking ahead, I plan to tackle more diverse roles, continually refining my prop fabrication and costume tailoring to bring memorable works to every convention.
