This pajama shoot for Tachibana Nozomi was in preparation for quite some time. Because of the sleepwear theme, I aimed to cultivate a deeply relaxing, homey atmosphere. I happened upon this rustic, retro cottage where lush greenery framed the windows and natural sunlight poured in, harmonizing effortlessly with Nozomi's soft green hair. To complement this mood, we adorned the set with white blossoms and potted plants, unifying the color palette across the entire frame.
For hair and makeup, I layered the wig carefully so the hair strands looked naturally airy and fluffy, focusing especially on the curve of the bangs to keep them full without appearing heavy on camera. The floating halo and elf ears took the most effort: to ensure they integrated seamlessly on camera, I repeatedly adjusted their wearing angles and mounting methods. The elf ears were custom-tinted to match my skin tone, with concealer blending their edges for an organic transition from any vantage point. For the outfit, beyond the original off-the-shoulder light blue dress, I layered an off-white open-knit shawl, which not only added dimensional layering to the ensemble but also enhanced that cozy, lounging-at-home vibe. The delicate lace and ribbon details along the dress were neatened thoroughly to ensure a polished look under the lens.
Throughout the shoot, I sought that effortless relaxation of just waking up or lazily passing the day. Instead of striking exaggerated poses, I relied primarily on glances and micro-expressions to convey emotion. In the first shot, I sat on the wooden floor with legs casually extended—one knee bent, the other reaching forward—to elongate the leg line while meeting the camera's gaze with a hint of playful nonchalance. The second shot captured a quiet moment of introspection, gently lifting the edge of the shawl with an arm raised naturally to form a tranquil, subdued aura. Since I was barefoot, I kept my toes relaxed and natural, ensuring the leg lines remained fluid and graceful throughout.
I especially enjoyed incorporating on-site props, such as the nearby plushies, the vintage chest of drawers, and even the floral rugs, which helped me immerse myself in character. The natural light playing across my face and dress was exquisite, achieving a dreamy, everyday slice-of-life texture with minimal post-processing. We waited patiently by the window for the sun to strike at just the right oblique angle, casting a soft halo of light across my hair strands. In terms of expression control, I maintained a gentle, half-awake subtlety, avoiding wide grins to preserve that languid charm of a pajama shoot. The on-set interactions—like trading glances with the little teddy bear on the table—made the entire session thoroughly delightful. I hope this photo set conveys the serene, endearing warmth of Nozomi in a cozy home setting.
