Returning from CICF Expo, this "ojisan" is thoroughly exhausted after that whirlwind appearance—honestly feels like I could sleep for days on end. This time, I prepared the Day 1 Swimsuit Hoshino version of Takanashi Hoshino cosplay from Blue Archive. To faithfully recreate this look, I did extensive prep work from wig styling to garment tailoring. The long pink twin tails paired with heterochromatic eyes, complemented by soft pink blush in the makeup, aimed to capture Hoshino's signature blend of languid nonchalance and adorable charm. The loose mint-green jacket draped loosely off the shoulders, layered over a white ruffled crop camisole and matching shorts. Around my neck was the red bell collar choker—arguably the soul accessory of the entire character design. Since the theme is swimwear, the overall visual embraces breezy summer freshness, paired with a blue-and-white swim ring prop.
We picked an outdoor expo area for the shoot, featuring grayish-white stone paving flanked by shrubs and contemporary architecture under soft natural light. To stay faithful to the character, I stayed barefoot throughout the entire session, wearing only a delicate silver chain around the ankle. While standing, I tested various postures—such as clenching one fist while flashing a peace sign, or raising both arms overhead. When seated on the swim ring or ground mat, I hugged my knees or gave casual V-signs. Though exhausting, seeing the finished frames made it clear that the details were spot on. I crossed paths with many fellow fans at the convention, and our chats were pure joy. The Swimsuit Hoshino styling is visually crisp and breezy, making it a perfect choice for summer.
Because it was an outdoor convention floor, running around repeatedly to capture ideal angles was a real drain on physical stamina. Nevertheless, securing these wonderful convention photos made every drop of effort worthwhile. The garment fabrics popped with great texture under the outdoor sun, with the white and mint-green palette proving extraordinarily photogenic. I kept postures relaxed to avoid stiff posing, letting the character's natural demeanor shine organically. If given the chance later, I'll definitely explore more diverse stylings.
Trimming and setting the wig also took considerable hours, ensuring the twin tails looked buoyant and natural while the bangs framed the forehead neatly. The makeup paid special attention to eye coloration—since Hoshino features heterochromia, selecting the right colored contacts was crucial. Lighting fluctuated continuously across the convention grounds, requiring constant angle shifts to dial in the desired aesthetic. Incorporating the swim ring and ground mat enriched compositional depth while keeping movements grounded. When standing on the stone pathway, bypassing cluttered crowds by utilizing foliage and clean architectural lines as soft bokeh kept the subject firmly in focus. Despite the exhaustion, bringing a beloved character to life with such completeness brings immense fulfillment. I hope this Swimsuit Hoshino set conveys the refreshing spirit of summer and the character's unique charm to everyone.
