[Kafka Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail—Testing the Pressure of the Stellaron Hunters

It’s been a while since this set of Kafka photos was sorted out, and this week I finally found time to finish editing the full selection to make a text record of this final photoshoot. Before shooting, we decided on a tone featuring a retro banquet hall and a sense of drama. Therefore, the scene used red velvet curtains and warm-toned candlelight arrangements, which, combined with the high-reflection material of the tabletop, created an effect with much more storytelling flavor than expected.

Let's talk about the overall look first. Although this costume design is mainly black and white, the amount of detail is actually huge. The purplish-red wig was custom-made; to restore the layers and volume of the hair, the stylist repeatedly trimmed it for a long time before going on camera, especially the bangs and the sideburns on both sides, which needed to be natural yet maintain that drape. The placement of the sunglasses on top of the head was also quite particular—they couldn't be too high or press down too much on the line of sight. The white shirt for the top has a slightly rigid texture, creating a great visual distinction from the leather material of the black coat. The red thin cord tie at the collar is the finishing touch of the whole look, and slightly adjusting its tightness can reflect completely different styles.

The scene for image one was chosen in front of a gold-framed full-length mirror, utilizing the mirror's refraction to capture layers between the foreground and background. The blue-purple light spots in the background clashed with the red curtain on the right, forming a very strong visual contrast. When pressing the shutter, I deliberately let my gaze wander slightly to the side to maintain a lazy and scrutinizing feel. Images two and three feature the main visual scene of this shoot. A lot of thought went into the dining table arrangement—red placemats, tall wine glasses, lit candles, combined with the mirror-like reflection on the tabletop, instantly heightened the lighting atmosphere of the entire frame.

In terms of handling props, that slender small prop in image three is quite interesting; when holding it, there's no need to make overly deliberate poses—the more relaxed the state, the closer it is to the character. The action of adjusting the red gloves with both hands in image two actually expresses the character's unhurried sense of rhythm before taking action. To capture this texture, the photographer used a warm side backlight, and the light cut from the candlestick just happened to outline the contours of the clothes. When the top light fell, the gloss of the purple wig looked excellent. Combined with the clear base makeup and slightly dark red eye makeup, the completion of this entire photo set is extremely high through Cosplay photography.

Just like the voice line mentioned in the post, the character's capability to control destiny with effortless control is truly attractive. This time, in terms of capturing expressions and movements, I deliberately removed any excess panic, trying my best to make my whole self present an absolute confidence, even a slightly playful status. During shooting gaps, we actually encountered many minor issues, like the tabletop reflection being too bright and washing out facial details, or changing the position of the wine glasses for several rounds. However, looking at the finalized photos in the end, all these adjustments were worth it. All in all, this is the most enjoyable set I've shot recently; whether it's costume restoration, scene arrangement, or the utilization of camera language, everything achieved the expected effect in this Cosplay photoshoot share.
