[Open Source Girl Cosplay] Offline Shoot with a Pink Shopping Cart and RTX 5080

Brought an RTX 5080 box as a prop to Firefly ACG Expo and shot a set of Open Source Girl cosplay photos while sitting in a pink shopping cart! Many friends saw the photos and asked if someone's graphics card had arrived, but it was actually a prop setup carefully chosen to fit the geeky and tech attributes of Open Source Girl. The highlight of this shoot was creating a cross-over mix of ACG moe aesthetics and geek culture products.

The styling concept for Open Source Girl blends otaku culture with tech vibes. I chose white twin tails paired with large black round-frame glasses, which stood out brilliantly at the convention. The top features a short black-and-white maid outfit style, where frills and a black bow tie bring out maximum anime cuteness. The top's cut cinches right at the waist, which, when paired with pure white stockings over the knee, draws visual focus down to the elongated leg lines. White stockings can be quite glossy in outdoor light, but fortunately, the material chosen wasn't overly thin—it maintained a smooth surface without cheap glare or snags. Framed by the pink shopping cart, the translucent feel and contrast of the white turned out wonderfully.

The shooting location was in the outdoor area of Firefly ACG Expo. The blazing sunlight that day presented a huge challenge. Conventions are crowded, making harsh shadows and awkward facial lighting common, while ground glare interferes with overall color tones. Positioning a reflector on the left side was crucial; it provided fill light for side angles, giving my white wig and white apron a soft light transition instead of blown-out whites under harsh light. White garments are notoriously hard to photograph in intense sunlight, but the reflector helped capture all the subtle ruffles and textures.

Posing inside the shopping cart required quite a bit of trial and error for leg placement. Bending them too much creates unwanted folds in the white stockings that make legs look thicker, while extending them fully causes instability. We tried leaning forward and reaching out, pulling twin tails dynamically, and holding a quiet pose with hands under the chin. The quiet pose was my personal favorite because the eye contact with the camera was engaging, and the leg lines wrapped in white stockings stood out strikingly against the pink basket and GPU boxes on the floor.

Speaking of the GPU boxes on the ground, the blue-haired anime character art next to Open Source Girl's white hair created a fun cross-character moment. Placing them by my feet also served a compositional purpose, preventing the bottom from feeling empty and creating a solid inverted triangle structure. Though prepared on a tight schedule, this shoot captured an extra touch of spontaneous, lively energy unique to outdoor ACG expos.
