With the night session wrapped up on Day 2 of CICF2024, I'm taking the time while my memories are still fresh to chat about this anime convention experience.

The schedule for CICF2024 Day 2 was packed. After the hall opened in the morning, I shuttled through the indoor venue, transitioning to outdoor shoots by the afternoon. Given the heavy foot traffic on site, finding a clean background corner indoors proved quite challenging, so most of these Convention photos were shot from dusk into the night. The photo environment was right beside a green belt outside the venue park, where floor tiles and neatly trimmed bushes formed a raw, organic set. Relying on strong fill light from the camera flash, the night was transformed into a serene scene under artificial illumination.

Preparing the costume took substantial effort. The extensive light blue wig required styling in advance to build curls and dimension. For the headpiece, I used a red-and-black contrast horn design, employing subtle hidden fixing techniques to keep it secure without flattening the hair. While direct camera flash highlights brilliant hair sheen in photos, under ambient daylight the color actually presents a soft, hazy fog blue.

The most visually striking component of the costume lies in the arm sleeves. I specifically highlighted the laser reflective effect of the sleeves in the photos; this holographic hard arm-guard material refracts rainbow light from varying angles. Paired with the dominant white base and blue gradients, it endows the entire Genshin Impact cosplay look with high-end texture under night flash photography. For the inner piece, I chose a black halterneck bodysuit accented with a gold chest emblem, which not only carves out a crisp silhouette but also creates a compelling visual contrast against the blue-and-white outerwear. Layered hemline details, waist straps, and glossy black tights together establish the main visual baseline.

Regarding lower-body details, I selected high-shine black tights paired with platform heels featuring a white base with blue and yellow accents to shift the visual center of gravity downward, preventing a top-heavy look. Red cords tied around the ankles served as a charming detail on site, enriching side-profile lines whether standing or seated. The seated poses in the pictures were taken casually on stone paving; the smooth outer fabric proved resistant to persistent creasing, which greatly boosted shooting efficiency.

Outdoor night shoots severely test makeup durability. Fortunately, thoroughly setting the makeup beforehand, combined with pleasant ambient temperatures, prevented sweat buildup and preserved a clean, matte finish under harsh highlights. In capturing this series, we fully leveraged staggered bushes in the background, which eliminated the common night-shoot issue of pitch-black backdrops while cleanly separating the character from the dark environment. The flash stroke highlighted skin tones and the glossy reflection on the black tights, achieving the exact street-style anime convention aesthetic I envisioned.

Speaking of the event itself, the atmosphere on Day 2 of CICF2024 remained electric, filled with passionately costumed cosplayers and photographers holding cameras everywhere. From queuing in the morning to wrapping up at night, despite a non-stop day of rushing and timing shots, meeting up with familiar friends, chatting, and helping each other carry props made every bit of exhaustion worthwhile. To be honest, wandering an anime convention in full makeup and styling always feels like a brief escape into a 2D world, experiencing a different dimension of life.

For me, the bustling daytime crowds and quiet night shoots offer two completely distinct experiences. Outdoor night photography brings a sense of calmness and focus, allowing us to examine every costume seam and accessory placement while capturing fine eye detail under the flash. Throughout wearing this outfit, managing platform shoe balance and arm guard range of motion ultimately translated into satisfying visual expressions across multiple shots.

The charm of an anime convention lies not only in character accuracy, but also in the dynamic, vibrant energy of the venue. Shooting this Genshin Impact cosplay outfit fulfilled a personal goal set early in the year, while giving me fresh perspective on bringing this 2D universe into reality. Greenery under night lamps, the horned silhouette against dark shadows, and my authentic self amidst the convention rush—all captured within shutter clicks. I hope these night shoot Convention photos bring you inspiration beyond the convention grounds.
