This school-themed Kanna cosplay shoot was conducted in a retro classroom with wooden window frames. From character styling to scene props, we strived to stay as close as possible to the school day atmosphere of the original series. The loose, light-blue top paired with a white round collar, along with the signature white horned headband and light-purple blunt-bang wig, established a lovely, adorable foundation. To better recreate her expression, light-blue colored contact lenses were paired with soft pink eyeshadow accents, giving her gaze an innocent, dazed purity. Combined with the over-the-knee White stockings, it materialized Kanna's youthful innocence and sweet, well-behaved charm.
The centerpiece prop of this shoot was undoubtedly the chalk drawing on the blackboard. Not only did it read "Kanna's Little Classroom," but it was also decorated with cartoon illustrations, doodles of rainbows, clouds, and graduation caps, instantly evoking the playful charm of school manga. During the shoot, we used several manga volumes and stationery items as interactive props. For instance, in one pose, I held a manga book above my head with both hands accompanied by a cheerful smile, capturing that carefree recess vibe; another shot captured me flipping through the manga, letting my eyes engage with the pages to imbue the static frame with rich narrative depth. The crocheted yellow chick pendant and red backpack also served as detailed accents, adding rich color to the visuals.
For framing and lighting, we relied heavily on bright natural sunlight streaming through the windows. This soft, diffused light gave the skin a luminous, translucent texture while rendering the light-blue outfit in clean, pure tones under balanced white balance. The wooden desks and window frames of the classroom formed a warm-and-cool contrast with the character's bright, pastel attire. We explored various framing distances—from ambient medium shots to half-body close-ups. To highlight her student persona, we arranged plenty of seated desk poses, including holding chalk, making heart gestures, and playfully tugging at the collar, using these natural postures to prevent any staged stiffness in this Classroom photography session.
Since this shoot centered on campus life, our choreography deliberately avoided large, exaggerated poses, emphasizing subtle moments of cute girl daily life instead—such as looking down to read and write, or daydreaming while clutching small props—making it easier for viewers to resonate with her "school diary" story. The local venue provided wonderful vintage windows and locker elements that, combined with the wooden architecture, harmonized perfectly with the setting of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. The wig was meticulously trimmed and styled beforehand to ensure the blunt bangs remained neat and sleek even during dynamic poses.
As a character endeavor, I hoped to showcase Kanna's uniquely earnest yet endearing, dazed charm at school. Holding the chalk to pretend to teach at the blackboard naturally immersed me into that childlike world. Thanks to the rich prop setup and environment, the shoot went smoothly, allowing me to slip into character quickly with every shift in pose and expression. Blending the other-worldly traits of a dragon girl into an ordinary classroom setting created a wonderful gap-moe contrast, which is the most captivating aspect of this set. I hope everyone can feel that lighthearted, joyful school-life charm through these photos.
