Shooting this set of Cartethyia Cosplay from Wuthering Waves, I mainly wanted to highlight the character's inherent atmosphere that combines a weightless feel with a fantasy temperament. The overall look uses a blue and white color scheme as the main tone, paired with a light golden long straight wig and a blue thorn-like crown. The elf ears accessory fits the original design even better than imagined under a profile perspective. The black form-fitting inner layer and the blue-and-white color-blocked sheer outer layer create a texture contrast on the plush white carpet, and with the embellishments of silver armlets and anklets, the entire outfit never looks monotonous.
During the shoot, we made the most of the staging materials around us. A white marble-textured backdrop combined with a large area of white and blue artificial flower clusters simulated the feel of a hidden courtyard. The plush floor mat was not only perfect for a half-lying posture but also beautifully supported the weapon props. Placing that blue-and-gold transparent-bladed sword prop in front of me avoided visual emptiness and strengthened the character's identity tags. Postures like resting the chin on my hand or lying on my side with knees bent put high demands on the flexibility of the costume, but fortunately, the material of this outfit was soft enough that I had very few restrictions when moving. In terms of lighting, a high-power softbox was used from the upper side shining downwards to form a soft gradient, making the transition between light and dark on the elf ears and cheeks look natural without any harsh black shadows. The reflective part of the prop sword really tested the on-site fill light, so a silver reflector was used here to slightly brighten the blade surface.
For the expression in the eyes, I chose a bluish contact lens color, paired with the makeup markings on the forehead, hoping to convey a sense of calmness yet vividness when looking straight into the lens. The thin silver chain at the ankle combined with bare feet extended a lightweight visual landing point in the frame. This composition method allows the visual center of gravity to rest smoothly at the boundary between the carpet and the flower clusters, avoiding any floating look for the portrait. The white balance of the entire set of photos was adjusted to a cooler tone, allowing the blue elements to blend better into the background without feeling out of place.
I have always loved Cartethyia's setting in this work, so when making this cosplay, I paid special attention to various small details, including the totem embossing on the neck ornament, the open-work design of the cuffs, and those few blue water-drop pendants on the headpiece. Although restoring them was a bit tedious, the final output effect was truly fantastic. During the shooting process, I also realized that styling involving mesh splicing combined with metal accessories requires quite a lot of patience to manage, but the resulting sense of layering was absolutely worth it. I hope this look of the elf girl can beautifully restore the character's mysterious yet gentle traits.
