[Taihou Cosplay] Azur Lane Disciplinary Committee Member's After-School Time

The light in the classroom after school is just right, with the setting sun casting dappled shadows on the floor through the window. Today's set of photos was completed in such a scene full of life. As a Disciplinary Committee Member, I chose this school-style look of Azur Lane's Taihou, hoping to present the contrast between seriousness and casualness inherent under the uniform.

In terms of outfit coordination, the red-and-white suit is the visual center. A pure white shirt serves as the base, with a black bow tied at the collar, layered with a bright red jacket. The cut of the jacket is actually somewhat oversized, carrying a more relaxed feel compared to a fitted style, and the change in form when putting it on or taking it off offers many possibilities for posing. The red-rimmed glasses are the finishing touch of the entire look. They not only strengthen the character's recognition but also subtly echo the red jacket from top to bottom, adding a layer of scholarly and student vibe.

For the lower body, I chose a classic black pleated short skirt paired with black tights. The material of the black tights was chosen to have a matte texture, so that when handling light sources, it can better reflect the lines and contours of the legs without looking distorted due to reflections. During the shoot, to ensure the fabric presented its best matte state, the photographer repeatedly adjusted the angle of the fill light, utilizing softbox equipment to prevent highlight overflow.

The set construction was the highlight of this shoot. The scattered test papers on the desk and the black shoulder bag were key props to create the after-school atmosphere. Rather than standing stiffly in the classroom, I prefer interacting with these items. For example, when sitting on the edge of the desk, stretching my legs naturally and pressing my toes down slightly can make the leg lines look longer; when kneeling on the desk with one knee, I have to adjust my center of gravity and keep my upper body upright to let the jacket drape naturally, adding a sense of movement.

During the shooting process, we made full use of the wooden storage lockers and the blackboard in the classroom. Blurring the background with a large aperture allows the viewer's focus to be completely locked on the subject. In the hard environment of the classroom, these soft blur effects help create a quiet, private atmosphere. Especially for the pose where I lightly support the frame of my glasses with one hand, I expressed that slightly tsundere feeling of the Disciplinary Committee Member within her strictness through simple actions.

Actually, in school-themed cosplay, the most important thing is how to avoid looking stiff. Simply posing like a mannequin easily makes the frame rigid. Therefore, when considering composition, I tried actions like sitting on a chair with one foot stepping on the edge, or half-slipping the red jacket down to the crook of my arm. This not only increased the layering of the frame but also gave the uniform some dynamism. When expressing the character's inner thoughts, I also relaxed my facial muscles as much as possible, delivering an examining yet not overly serious look through the red-rimmed glasses.

Overall, for this Disciplinary Committee Member look of Azur Lane's Taihou, we tried to depart from traditional pure special-effects photos, returning instead to a daily school narrative. It displays the character's relatively relaxed and casual state during the gaps of completing studies or executing disciplinary tasks. Whether it's the texture of the sunlight hitting the paper or the action of casually straightening the collar, it makes the character more vivid. Near the end of the shoot, we just caught the sunset light filtering into the classroom, making the color tones of the entire photo very gentle and drawing a natural conclusion to this classroom-themed shoot.
