The theme of this shoot is very clear, revolving around the two core imageries of the "chess game" and the "throne" to present the traits of the character Cerydra. She is not only the player controlling the chess game but also a key piece on the chessboard. This duality is highly fascinating in her setting, and it is the core message I wanted to convey through my styling and performance.

Regarding the costume, the blue and white color-blocking provides great layering, especially with the geometric cutout design on the chest and the patched materials at the shoulders, blending the character's sci-fi and fantasy elements just right. Although the headpiece is small, the texture and shape of the blue crystal are highly faithful to the original design. Paired with the light blue and white dip-dyed wig, the overall silhouette instantly becomes three-dimensional.

For props, we brought in a specially customized throne and a massive chessboard. The chess pieces themselves are quite heavy; holding them in hand or using them as scene embellishments instantly enhances the narrative feel of the image. Combined with the giant clock dial and gear elements in the background, as well as the cool white smoke created on-site, the atmosphere of the entire space instantly pulls you into that ancient and puzzle-filled chess world.

During the shoot, the photographer and I communicated a lot about controlling expressions and postures. Cerydra's temperament shouldn't be purely aloof; rather, it should be an effortless elegance, maintaining a composed smile even in the midst of a complex chess game. For instance, in the close-up shot of playing chess, I deliberately lightened the pressure of my fingers touching the piece and looked up slightly, bringing out that subtle feeling of both setting up the board and seemingly seeing through everything. When sitting on the throne, the posture needs to be as relaxed and extended as possible, with one hand resting on the armrest and the other naturally placed on the staff. This creates a regal sense of pressure without appearing stiff.

The lighting setup this time was also very sophisticated. The combination of overhead light and side-backlighting beautifully outlined the character's silhouette and made the blue-and-white color scheme of the clothes look more translucent. Every time I see the final photos where the chessboard, clock, throne, and character interweave, I feel that the narrative sense of this anime-style photography set naturally flows out.
