The touch of the blue wig wrapping around my fingers, along with the luster refracted from these golden accessories under daylight, constitutes the main keynote of this finished set shoot. There were a total of six backdrops at the scene, and I selected a few with the purest visual perception to present. Between the rotation of moon phases, I utilize myself as the anchor point. This sentence actually set the atmospheric sense of this finished set very early on.
In terms of wig styling, the blue-and-white interwoven high ponytail hairpieces required a massive amount of management. The hair knot on the top of the head needed to be adjusted according to the head volume; otherwise, it would look very flat under strong light. Meanwhile, to present a layered feel for the gradient blue hair ends, I sprayed hairspray once more inside the hairpieces to ensure it can still maintain those flowing yet clear lines during wind blowing or hand-lifting movements.
This costume has a relatively large amount of props, especially the heavy-crafted collar on the neck, which features metal and black circular rings, as well as the metal butterfly bow styling on the chest. This large area of distressed metal texture and golden spray paint, in terms of heavy realism, can actually easily affect the body's sense of balance. Especially with the half off-the-shoulder wearing method, the shoulder straps must be glued securely; otherwise, the metal pieces easily sag, which requires constant attention during the shooting process.
The white bandages on the legs are one of the highlights of this styling. It looks like simple wrapping, but actually, to present a tight, crisp visual effect, the bandages were fixed multiple times with hooks and tape inside. The entire shoot was done barefoot, because the character's inherently set traits are that lightweight, cool temperament, so standing barefoot on the blanket and by the pool could merge into the environment better. The black lines on the soles should be a highly crucial visual imprint on the character.
To coordinate with the character's clear yet deep feel, the base makeup was applied very thin, with only localized highlighting done. The focus was placed on the shaping of eye makeup, wearing blue contact lenses and sweeping fine blue glitters at the tail of the eyes to give the gaze a penetrating power. The shadows at the brow bone and nose bridge were not struck very deep, because natural light itself possesses a filter effect, and too heavy shadows would instead destroy the integrity of the high-light atmosphere.
Regarding the shooting scenes, the indoor part utilized white classical sculptures and the natural light filtering through the window frames. During the shoot, to create that "sacred, ethereal" high-key frame, we added large areas of foam boards before the camera for light filling, so the frame overall is very translucent, yet without losing the color saturation of the blue hair. The shot by the pool was shot very nimbly; the calm reflection of the water surface and the background plants formed an excellent visual extension, and one leg lifted required controlling the body's center of gravity well, where balance is highly crucial. This showcases the core beauty of Anime-style photography.
When expressing the character's personality, the copy gave a lot of room for play. "Utilizing me as the anchor point" implies an independent, self-consistent inner state. Therefore, when posing, I didn't need excessive facial expressions; slightly lowering the head, looking up, or touching the hair could transmit this self-consistency and alienation. I feel the highest realm of cosplay character restoration is not just wearing it right, but getting the temperament right.
The greatest fun of releasing a finished set every time is nothing more than transforming flat settings into three-dimensional images in reality. This set of pictures took two weeks from preparation to shooting, spending quite a lot of thought whether in the deliberation of wig styling or the bonding of costume details. Watching myself in the ultimate finished cuts, the sense of achievement brought by this effort is very authentic.
