Slipping into this black-and-white bunny ear look and standing before the bar counter during shooting offered plenty of nuances to look back on.
This time, I cosplayed Formidable from Azur Lane, with the overall design leaning into monochrome color-blocking and lace accents. First, for the hair styling, long white hair was gathered into twin-tails, crowned by large plush upright bunny ears. The inner ears feature long white faux fur bordered by black piping, giving a substantial presence that, together with the oversized black-and-white ribbon bow atop my head, provided great volume and instant recognition for the headpiece. A small black bow tie at the chest embedded with a red diamond jewel created an eye-catching focal point against the white top.
The main garment is a white cropped top rich with ruffles and pleats from the neckline to the sleeves, paired with court-style lantern sleeves to enhance visual layers. On my arms are black lace half-sleeves, creating a striking color contrast against the white sleeves—this asymmetrical extension adds richness to the upper body styling. For the lower half, I opted for opaque black tights and white pointed high heels; the monochrome contrast extends seamlessly from head to toe, creating a unified look with a playful touch blending catgirl and Bunny girl charms.
In terms of location, the wooden bar counter and background wine rack matched the mood of this look perfectly. The wine rack behind was lined with bottles and goblets of varied shapes, with diamond-pattern wine cubbies enhancing the spatial depth. For lighting, the photographer used a strong overhead key light to carve out the character's silhouette, while casting distinct highlights across the Black stockings to accentuate the fine, matte texture of the hosiery. Long shadows cast across the floor added geometric tension to the frame. Sitting on a tall wooden barstool, leaning my center of gravity slightly back with one leg resting on the crossbar and the other extended downward maximized the leg lines. Lifting the leg required a steady core to prevent the heels from slipping on the floor, making timing with the photographer essential.
This outfit is relatively light without heavy armor or mechanical parts, allowing for a more composed expression: relaxing the gaze toward the lens and tilting the chin up slightly projected confident poise. From the photographer's perspective, a low-angle perspective highlighted the high heels and stockings while incorporating the wooden grain of the bar counter into the composition, making both vertical and horizontal planes visually engaging. The soft warm lighting in the background contrasted with the cool-white tones of the costume, letting the character pop naturally from the background. This cozy lounge ambiance at the bar counter closely resonates with Formidable's languid and elegant lore—capturing a few key angles ensured richly atmospheric results.
