[Shiki Natsume Cosplay] Natsume's Red Qipao cosplay Try-on from Starlight Cafe

I finally got my hands on this red outfit for Shiki Natsume Cosplay, so for this Cosplay fitting, I went straight for this classic look from Starlight Cafe. The main photo is a lightly retouched half-body shot; I chose it as the cover because it effectively showcases the tailoring and silhouette of the garment.

The outfit arrived with some creases, requiring thorough ironing before wearing. The red satin fabric carries a rich luster, adorned with gold-stamped patterns and delicately crafted frog buttons along the side. The crowning highlight of this character is pairing the outfit with Black stockings and red high heels. The denier of the Black stockings was balanced just right—neither overly sheer nor excessively opaque—infusing the Qipao cosplay with immense elegance.

For the hair and headwear, I went with twin buns accented with a red rose on the side. The wig was quite tricky to manage, particularly the two looped strands at the crown, which required generous holding spray and setting time. Because the dress is a form-fitting cut with a pencil skirt silhouette, slipping into it took more effort than expected. To cinch the waistline, I wore a corset underneath. Posing couldn't involve overly broad motions; bending even slightly would cause creases in the fabric, but fortunately, the final shots captured high character fidelity.

Regarding the layout, since she is originally a 2D character, I deliberately placed the in-game CG on the left so everyone could easily compare my recreation. A 'Fu' (good fortune) calligraphy piece was added on the right, harmonizing with the Lunar New Year vibe of this outfit. Shooting in Black stockings inside the studio genuinely tests one's physique, especially with mirror reflections feeling a bit self-conscious, and the stockings rubbing against the shoes created noticeable friction sounds when walking.

As a quick note, the final full-body shot was taken while standing on a cylindrical pedestal to visually elongate the leg lines. Since the character is typically reserved, I tried subtle gestures like holding the skirt hem with both hands and placing a hand on my hip to inject some playful charm, capturing an authentic glimpse into the Cosplay fitting process. Overall, this try-on experience was fantastic—the fabric quality and tailoring are both exquisite, perfectly suited for recreating Shiki Natsume's pure, adorable aura from Starlight Cafe. Whenever tackling Qipao cosplay characters, always pay attention to choosing proper undergarments and shaping wear to properly support the dress's silhouette.
