This time, I'm bringing you the cosplay of Cheshire from 'Azur Lane'. Just in time for the 9th Anniversary of Azur Lane, I took this opportunity to complete this look that I've been wanting to shoot for a long time. The overall shooting plan revolves around an atmosphere of 'elegant yet slightly playful', paired with the unique large-brimmed white hat and the highly recognizable cyan-blue highlighted wig, hoping to restore the inherent spiritual temperament of the ship-girl cat.
In terms of clothing, I chose this white, short, halter-style custom-made jumpsuit. The Chinese-style buttons at the neckline and the golden tassel decorations serve as a finishing touch, retaining the character's classical charm, while the translucent white material and fine dark-pattern embroidery make the whole outfit look very fresh. The matching white plush shawl is truly practical; it not only plays a role in keeping warm but also adds a rich sense of gorgeousness to the visual aspect, making the whole posture look fuller and more satisfied. The blue semi-transparent gauze gloves and the decorations on the fingertips echo the signature cyan highlight on the wig in terms of color, making the overall color control very harmonious.
To fit the character's image, the makeup is more inclined towards a transparent and clean texture. For contact lenses, I chose a light grayish cyan-green series, paired with micro-red-toned eye makeup, attempting to present the character's cold yet focused eyes. During the shooting process, I was constantly trying to adjust to that relaxed and confident state, and the photographer also said this expression fits the 'meow meow' setting very well. We jokingly called this process the possession of an 'ordinary passing kitty', and we had to integrate that relaxed, natural, and slightly mysterious state into the lens.
The studio for this shoot was decorated with many blue and white artificial flowers and European-style Roman columns, and the background has a very elegant winter atmosphere. The high-brightness soft light makes the whole frame very bright, showing the color level of the wig and the transparency of the clothes perfectly. Some friends say that without kittens, how can the world go around, so taking photos in the posture of a cat for this character is very appropriate. Although the weight of each feather ornament and hat brim made the shooting a bit hard, and the plush shawl had to be adjusted to the best position to match the appropriate posture, seeing the light and shadow in the final photos made all the effort worth it.
It is not easy for Azur Lane to reach its 9th Anniversary; it is not only the manifestation of the bonds between characters in the game, but also the long-term companionship of us players. As a coser, being able to restore such a character in my own way is an expression of my love for the 2D world. This time, we didn't want to make the character too complex, but instead recorded such a special 9th Anniversary memory in a way that is closer to life but enough exquisite, hoping to bring out the charm of the Anime girl.
