The shooting location this time was chosen in a server cabinet environment full of tech and metallic textures. To match the overall atmosphere of Asuma Toki from Blue Archive, we put a lot of effort into the lighting arrangement, mainly adopting cool blue and purple neon lights to highlight the character's cool, capable, and slightly cyberpunk traits. This outfit looks simple, but wearing it is actually quite challenging. First is the mechanical tactical headset device on the head; it is heavier than it looks and has several connection cables. To ensure the best photo results, I deliberately used hairspray to fix my short hair very neatly, ensuring the cables wouldn't stray. The black one-piece bodysuit is made of high-elasticity form-fitting fabric, and the tailoring flatters the body shape nicely. To recreate the character's tense combat state, I also paired it with white tight pants underneath, along with black straps on the thighs, adding a sense of restraint and power.
What I found most challenging was the pair of white mechanical knee pads on my legs. Since they are made of hard materials, although the styling is very cool, they must be tightly strapped to the knees when worn, and after a long shoot, the leg muscles start to ache. However, for the full-body standing composition in the first photo, the center of gravity must be kept steady to display the most upright posture. The white prop gun in my hand also has some weight to it. When holding it for poses, I had to constantly pay attention to wrist strength to keep the muzzle steady and avoid looking weak.
The overhead-angle photo in the second picture actually tested facial expressions quite a bit. At that time, I was standing inside the server cabinet, looking down through the lens. To match the character's core quote 'I will eliminate all obstacles for you,' I deliberately put away my usual smile and made my gaze very cold, trying to convey that mechanical sense of executing missions absolutely without extra emotions. The action in the third picture of both hands supporting the headgear was not only to increase the interactive feel in the composition but also to showcase the three-dimensional details of this equipment to the lens. In a low-light environment, the blue light hitting my face and the texture of the clothing produced a particularly textured reflective effect. The entire shooting process was basically a process of constantly adjusting breathing and posture to get closer to that character state of possessing extremely high combat power yet remaining very pure. Every time I cosplay a character with such mechanical elements, the early preparation and physical exertion during the shoot are quite significant, but when seeing the perfect fusion of light, shadow, clothing, props, and makeup in the final photos, I feel that all the tedious steps are worthwhile.
