The Convention photos for this custom Chinese girl Rem Cosplay look shot at the Mengka anime convention on July 14, 2024, are finally ready. Special thanks to photographer San Yue for the hard work.
Since this is a custom design, the overall styling combines Chinese-style elements with anime aesthetics. The top uses light-blue satin fabric adorned with white floral textures, looking quite elegant with the mandarin collar design. The lower half features a white lace pleated skirt, complemented by an exquisite corset design on the side with silver buttons. Paired with White stockings and lace-up gloves, the overall visual not only looks refreshing but also beautifully showcases leg lines.
Traffic was quite heavy at the convention venue, so we chose an outdoor area near the glass curtain wall where the lighting was great, giving the photos a cool and translucent feel overall. The most interesting part of this styling was the contrast of props: a long sword and a bamboo steamer filled with buns. When holding the sword, the poses needed to be sharper to convey the character's combat traits. But when lifting the steamer, a relaxed everyday feel was needed instead. Switching between martial and domestic props made the shooting process super fun and kept posing fatigue at bay.
Since it was a summer shoot, the outdoors was rather sweltering. While the satin fabric looks stunning, its breathability is average, so I basically wore cooling patches the entire time. Despite the hard work, I received lots of praise from fellow fans on site. In post-processing, we mainly brightened skin tones and enhanced the translucent texture of the stockings. Because the prop was relatively long, low-angle upward framing was chosen to balance the composition, which made the visual effect of the long legs in White stockings stand out even more. Compiling and sharing these insights on the fidelity and creative concepts behind this custom design, I hope everyone can appreciate the intricate design details and the unique blend of cool elegance and sweetness we aimed to express during the shoot.
