This Lunar New Year-themed shoot was in preparation for a long time, and I'm thrilled to finally share it right at the turn of the new year. To fit the festive ambiance, the costume retains her canon design while accentuating the cozy texture of plush elements. For the white fur trim along the cape and collar, I specifically selected fluffier materials to make them look full and dimensional on camera. The gold piping and geometric patterns on the garments softly catch the warm studio lights, enriching the overall visual layering. The blue and white pom-pom tassel pendants at the waist served as lively visual accents whenever I moved or posed. For the hairstyle, beyond recreating her signature golden hair, I added white pom-pom hair accessories and blue ribbons to make the styling look even more vibrant and agile.
As for the props, we specially prepared a red-and-gold "Happy New Year" scroll, a woven bamboo lantern, candied hawthorn (tanghulu), and a glistening golden treasure bowl. The vivid red of the tanghulu harmonized beautifully with the background maple leaves and lanterns. A warm LED light was tucked inside the bamboo lantern, acting not only as a prop but also as an effective fill light to softly sculpt facial contours. The auspicious calligraphy on the treasure bowl was another fitting touch for the season. The tabletop was further styled with small rabbit figurines and tangerines, adding lived-in warmth and richness to the composition.
Setting up the studio set took quite a bit of thought. We chose traditional Chinese wooden lattice windows for the backdrop, adorned with calligraphy tapestries, Chinese "Fu" fortune knots, and faux red maple foliage to craft a warm, classical atmosphere. In terms of lighting, the key light utilized a softbox to ensure a luminous, translucent complexion, while a warm spotlight was aimed at the maple leaves in the background to build that joyous festive glow.
For posing and expression management, I explored diverse angles. When holding the scroll, my gaze was playful and locked straight onto the camera to enhance connection with the viewer. When holding the tanghulu, I dialed it back toward a gentler, quieter mood. To showcase the White stockings and boots, I fine-tuned my seated and leaning postures to elongate bodily lines, using the skirt's folds to balance the frame's proportions.
In the new year, I hope everyone continues their journey across Teyvat to explore even more uncharted landscapes. This photo set captures my heartfelt blessings for the season, and I hope it spreads joy and festive warmth to you all. Wishing you smooth sailing and safe travels in 2025!
