To recreate this sailor-themed outfit of Laffey from Azur Lane, I selected a white dress featuring faint light-blue vertical stripes, complemented by dark-blue striped cuffs and collar trim. The sailor collar resting across the shoulders is a standout feature, bordered by delicate white piping and sheer blue ribbon accents that grant the entire silhouette an airy lightness. Fastening the large blue hair bow and metallic accessories on top of the head took substantial time prior to shooting; the silver-white twintail wig carried significant volume, requiring dozens of bobby pins to keep it firmly anchored during movement.

For makeup, the focus was firmly on defining the eye contours. Reddish-brown contact lenses enhanced the focused clarity of the gaze, while blush was kept sheer to preserve a clean, charmingly dazed look. Since camera lights tend to wash out makeup, the false lashes and eyeliner were both drawn wider and deeper, ensuring the eyes remained expressive under strong studio lights.

The shooting went exceptionally smooth. The first frame shows a finger-heart gesture facing the camera; the photographer instructed me to tuck my chin slightly and keep my hands relaxed, as over-tensing immediately looks stiff. Creating a two-handed heart requires arm tension that often makes shoulders hunch up, requiring constant posture resets to maintain a relaxed, natural shoulder line. The second frame is a side profile highlighting the shoulder tailoring, where dropping the shoulders and gently extending the arms allowed the puffy sleeves and striped cuff accents to read clearly on camera.

Down below, I wore white over-the-knee socks paired with a numbered blue thigh ring—a subtle accent I adore, which visually elongates the legs while adding a playful touch. To showcase the thigh ring, we adjusted the hemline so it wasn't fully hidden, while keeping the leg muscles gently toned to yield smooth, elegant contours.

Lighting is everything in a studio portrait.
