This shoot features Aston Machan from Umamusume: Pretty Derby, focusing on an overall sweet atmosphere, which led to meticulous preparations for the costume and props. The orange-red wig was styled into rabbit-ear-like buns, adorned with a mini crown and ribbons, wonderfully highlighting the character's moe charm. The entire white off-the-shoulder dress features abundant ruffles and lace elements, with brown-and-pink ribbon straps on the chest printed with the words "Love Rabbit," echoing the white rabbit plushie used in the shoot. Because it is an off-the-shoulder design, the fit needed repeated adjustments to stay secure comfortably without pinching the skin or causing wardrobe malfunctions.
Underneath the skirt, it was paired with white over-the-knee stockings made of a matte fabric, making the leg lines appear sleek and straight. Against a pure white backdrop, white clothing can easily look gray, so the photographer used bright lighting to maintain a translucent clarity across the frame. The shoot setting was dominated by plush textures, with a soft white fleece blanket laid on the floor and yellow star cushions as well as purple and pink little bunnies scattered around. Sitting down while holding that white bunny, the voluminous skirt required careful arrangement so as not to look bulky, while a crossed-leg seated pose enhanced the visual elongation of the white stockings. Through the lens, I intentionally refined my gaze to make it look more lively.
Speaking of photography details, shooting in front of a white backdrop requires careful angle selection due to the seam between the floor and wall; turning slightly sideways nicely showcases how the white stockings elongate the leg lines. Facial expression control is crucial during the shoot. To better capture the essence of a 2D Anime girl, for makeup I used longer false eyelashes and light-colored contact lenses, which paired with soft lighting to reflect subtle pink catchlights in the eyes. Beyond standard front-facing poses, we tried several compositions like hugging knees while looking back and slightly tilting the body, effectively accentuating the neckline and leg curves.
In fact, a few minor hiccups occurred during the shoot—such as wig tips accidentally catching on the lace, and fine fuzz from the plush toys easily sticking to the white stockings. These had to be cleared away promptly between shots to maintain flawless cleanliness. Shooting cute characters in such a pure white, high-key studio is wonderfully fitting; it keeps post-processing demands low while nicely showcasing the tailored silhouette of the costume. Moving around the studio in this dress, the airy volume of the skirt and petticoats created slight resistance, which inadvertently made the movements look even more endearing and cute.
For displaying leg shape, the over-the-knee stockings combined with the youthful girlish hemline offered great flattering effects. This makeup and styling nicely embodied the character's innocent and carefree personality, fostering a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere throughout the shoot. Overall, post-processing mainly controlled skin brightness and lighting balance without excessive warping, preserving the authentic layers of the costume as well as the lively energy inherent to the character. This made for a truly enjoyable White tights cosplay shooting experience.
