As the venue for the Shanghai Port Midsummer Festival was just cleared and the crowds thinned out, I quickly slipped into the beach chairs of the dock set to lie down for a while. Honestly, running around the convention all day in this full getup in the summer heat makes one completely "lose motivation." Slumping in this cozy little rest area eating ice cream, I felt my energy bar slowly recharging. As Laffey from the Eagle Union, that lazy demeanor of always wanting to push work to the Commander and just slack off was practically portrayed in true colors at this moment.

The material selection for this festival styling was very deliberate. The deep blue bodysuit features a slightly glossy sheen, which produces wonderful reflections under the exhibition hall lights, visually mirroring the tactile quality of a 2D character. In terms of comfort, though, it is considerably hotter than regular cotton clothing—a small, unavoidable trade-off of cosplay. The headpiece was equally thought out: an oversized white bunny ear headband with pink lining and navy blue ribbon ties faithfully recreated the character's iconic traits. The fluffy white plush pom-poms along the shoulder sleeves bobbed with every step, adding dimensional layering and cuteness.

For the lower half, to suit the ocean festival vibes, I paired opaque white pantyhose featuring light blue cloud prints along the sides in this White stockings cosplay, looking refreshing visually. On my feet were black patent leather Mary Jane shoes decorated with cute white bunny accents on the toes—such fine details best reflect dedication to character lore. The palette centered on deep ocean blue, bright white, and subtle black accents, exuding a crisp, lively summer port charm.

The photoshoot process was a lot of fun. In the first shot, clenching both fists and hunching my neck slightly captured Laffey's carefree "no-troubles, just-wanna-sleep" nature. In the second image on the beach chair, I went with an extended pose with one hand raised and body leaning back, which beautifully showcased the leg lines and white tights while anchoring the composition against the clean booth set. As a cosplayer, beyond costume accuracy, capturing character traits through body language is essential.

Being at an official event, the background decor was very meticulous—from the blue-and-white striped parasol and white beach chair to the nautical wooden boardwalk and lifebuoy, all helping build the narrative of the Midsummer Festival. While conventions are bustling, catching a quiet corner between events to immerse fully into character was a rare and treasured experience. The sweet ice cream chased away the fatigue, and I hope these Convention photos preserve a lovely memory of this summer's port festival.
