This set of Honkai: Star Rail Fu Xuan convention photos, shot in the outdoor area of the 2025 Firefly ACG Expo, was actually taken on a very sunny afternoon. The foot traffic at the convention venue was huge at that time, and to find this relatively quiet outdoor greenery area, the photographer and I walked around the exhibition hall for quite a while. Fortunately, the final photo effect highly met expectations. The ambient light under natural light could beautifully outline the layers of this costume, making the originally somewhat heavy Lolita-style skirt hem look much more lightweight in front of the lens.

Let's talk about the details of the styling this time. For the wig, I chose a very light pale pink, paired with a purplish-red gradient tassel at the ends. Although the wig has a massive amount of hair volume and can easily look puffy outdoors, it added a touch of agility instead under the blowing of the natural breeze. The diamond-shaped forehead ornament worn right in the center of the forehead and the deep-colored choker on the neck paired with a purple-pink bow tie are elements I specially used in the makeup and styling to reinforce the character's recognizability. To keep the overall dreamlike atmosphere more unified, I slightly enhanced the colors for the eye makeup, making the gaze look more spirited.

Regarding the costume, the most satisfying part is absolutely this outer purple star-chart lantern sleeve. The material selected is a fabric with a starry sky texture, and the golden lines covering it have a subtle luster under the outdoor sunlight, which, paired with the white ruffled collar, widened the visual effect of the shoulders. To be honest, although the design of this outfit is an off-the-shoulder style, because it has multiple inner layers and a stacked skirt hem, it actually bears a lot of weight when worn on the body. During roaming the venue and shooting, the skirt's tassel alignment frequently got tangled together by the wind, requiring frequent rearranging—this is just a sweet trouble belonging to convention cosplayers.

On the shooting day, we primarily utilized a white sofa as a prop and cushion. The white furniture and the character's pink, purple, and white clothing offered an excellent color contrast in front of the emerald green plant background. The photographer used a large-aperture lens, processing the background greenery into a soft blurred effect. Here I also want to praise the photographer's guidance; the light that day was actually rather overhead, which easily cast shadows on the face, but we utilized blocking and reflection in the white sofa area, making the facial light much softer, which also reduced the pressure on post-processing retouching.

Friends familiar with Honkai: Star Rail all know that Fu Xuan is a meticulous and flawless planner character in the game. Although shooting this kind of styling at an outdoor convention cannot fully duplicate the serious atmosphere inside the game, I preferred to use this look to showcase a more relaxed, lifelike side of her personality. Therefore, besides sitting upright in a static standing pose, I also tried tilting my head slightly toward the lens and turning sideways to look back, which allowed this dreamily cute dress to display a better visual effect.

Finally, I want to talk about the Firefly ACG Expo itself. The atmosphere of this year's offline convention was truly excellent, especially in the outdoor exhibition zone, where everyone very friendlily yielded spots to cooperate with each other for taking photos. This styling also attracted many passerby photographers while roaming the venue. Although the weather was quite hot and I sweat a lot wearing this heavy gear, being able to bring a character I love offline to meet everyone brings an unsaid satisfaction. We didn't encounter too many unexpected shooting situations, and overall it was a relatively smooth outdoor portrait shoot. This set of convention photos recorded the day's sunlight, breeze, and cozy time at the expo, and I hope there will be opportunities in the future to visit more conventions in this state to have fun.
