[Laffey Cosplay] Azur Lane's Lazy Little Bunny at Firefly ACG Expo

Standing on the riverside railing at the Firefly ACG Expo in this Laffey costume, that sleepy, sluggish feeling was actually quite close to my real state. Location shooting outside the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo was mainly meant to capture the character's drowsy, lazy vibe under the sun. When I first got this outfit, my most immediate impression was how rich the design elements were. To maintain the shape of the large blue ribbon and two long bunny ears on top, I added internal support. Although they look light, keeping their fluttering balance on my head outdoors in the wind required some effort—especially the long ears, which really tested the wig's securing strength as they swayed with my movements.

To match the character's personality, I intentionally didn't make the makeup too heavy this time, focusing instead on the soft reddish blush under the eyes and the orange-tinted contacts to create that sleepy, slightly dazed gaze of someone who just woke up. The blue sailor collar combined with loose white cuffs, along with ribbons and metal accents, created a very fresh color contrast across the upper body. I especially loved the small carrot-shaped pendant on the chest—though small, it lit up the playful vibe of the whole look. During the shoot, we mainly utilized the natural light along the river, letting sunlight filter through tree leaves onto the white fabric of the costume, so it wouldn't look stark white, but rather carry a soft translucency.

Regarding the outfit's wearability, I must mention the combination of the stockings and leg ring. The white silk thigh garter setup—pairing white over-the-knee silk stockings with a blue thigh garter—is visually striking while flattering the leg lines nicely. To find the best standing and sitting poses on the railing, we adjusted the camera angles back and forth many times. For instance, the leg-lift pose in the first photo actually required strong core strength to stabilize my center of gravity; while the high-angle lookdown in the second image took advantage of the railing height difference, creating an imposing, slightly tsundere perspective. My personal favorite is the third standing photo, which perfectly showcases the costume length proportion, the off-shoulder collar design, and the leg accessory details.

In a crowded, noisy environment like an ACG expo, capturing a clean background takes patience. Fortunately, we picked a riverside walkway on one side, which offered city high-rises in the distance alongside lush greenery and river water. This atmosphere—blending everyday realism with Anime cosplay aesthetics—fit the character's background perfectly. When shooting these photos, the weather in Guangzhou was quite sultry. Wearing a heavy wig, layered clothing, and fluffy white shoes really tested my stamina and endurance. But seeing the final shots—crisp, clean, and carrying that touch of sleepiness—made all the hard work feel completely worth it. The outfit has many accessories, such as the waist metal ring and long white ribbons, which easily tangle if you aren't careful when posing. So during shoot breaks, I frequently smoothed out the skirt hem and ribbon directions to ensure they draped or fluttered naturally on camera rather than clumping messily.

As an immersive character experience, this photoshoot gave me a deeper appreciation of the costume's details. Beyond the clothing, we strove to capture the character's signature demeanor—that slightly open mouth, unfocused gaze yet carrying a subtle spark of life was my main focus. There were also many fun moments during shooting, like passing pedestrians finding the long ears intriguing and taking curious looks, or my companions handing me a mini fan to cool down, all of which made the shoot less tiring. I hope these photos allow everyone to feel that unique summer riverside atmosphere filled with a lazy sea breeze.
