This time, I bring you a Flandre Scarlet cosplay photo set shot in a retro library photo shoot setting, with the overall tone established as a mysterious Gothic Lolita style.

Regarding the outfit for this look, the centerpiece is a black and red Lolita-style dress. The upper body features an off-the-shoulder design with wide ruffles, and the neckline and waist are adorned with red satin ribbon bows and small golden star accessories. The petticoat underneath has plenty of volume, giving the entire skirt a fluffy and gorgeous texture. The hair is a light blonde long curly wig, topped with a matching ruffled bonnet. For the lower body, I paired it with black diamond-patterned fishnet tights. To fit the character setting, I specifically chose this element as it adds a touch of subtle sexiness while visually lengthening the legs. The shoes are thick-soled red buckle leather shoes, full of retro vibes.

The shooting location was a retro library photo shoot setting filled with solid wood displays, where the bookcases and stacked old books in the background provide a strong sense of environment. To enhance the atmosphere, I prepared a large number of physical props. The most important one is the brown plush teddy bear in my arms, used to convey the character's eternal, childlike girlhood. Additionally, I brought a wrap-around string of crystal lights; the multi-faceted glass crystals refract vibrant colors like blue, yellow, red, and green under the light, hanging on the branches like liquid gems, adding a vivid visual center to the dull wooden environment. On the left side of the desk sits a vintage mantel clock with a black dial and white numerals, which, along with the desk lamp and small lanterns, further intensifies the mansion's sense of frozen time.

The lighting for this shoot did not use traditional bright, flat lighting, but instead specifically utilized the side-backlight coming through the blinds on the right. Cut by the blinds, the light forms an alternating pattern of light and dark spots. This high-contrast shadow treatment is unexpectedly perfect for the red and black outfit, emphasizing the texture of the wig strands while making the shadows along the lace edges more dimensional. Under the side light, the dark areas of the red and black dress appear deep, while the bright parts look vivid, creating a strong color impact.

For the makeup and hair design, the focus was placed on creating doll-like delicate facial features. I chose a fair foundation to present a flawless skin texture, and used a red-brown color palette for the eye makeup, slightly tilting the outer corners upwards. The red contact lenses I wore match the main color of the outfit, making the gaze look innocent yet deeply mysterious. The lips feature a soft-matte red lip glaze, which captures the retro atmosphere quite accurately. The light blonde wavy long curls required smoothing beforehand, and the curvature of the curls had to be constantly adjusted during shooting to prevent the hair from tangling with the lace and necklace around the neck.

During the actual shooting process, the biggest challenge of this outfit lay in the heavy platform shoes and the complex skirt. Although the platform shoes increased my height, it was easy to lose balance when walking around the desk, so I had to watch my step at all times. At the same time, when posing in a sitting position, arranging the skirt took a lot of time to ensure that the ruffles fell naturally on both sides of my legs and that the fishnet pattern didn't snag due to body movements. Another challenge was the string of crystal lights; for fear of damaging it, I handled it with extreme care during transport, and once it was set up, I had to avoid making movements that were too large to knock it down.

When shaping the temperament of this character, what I wanted to balance was a sense of "dangerous cuteness." The body language while holding the plush bear should appear casual and relaxed, but the expression needs to carry a certain presence, with the eyes staring directly into the camera to create a vibe that seems harmless yet is quietly watching you from behind. The core of the Gothic style often lies in mystery and classicism. Through multi-angle shooting, this set of photos blends the tranquility of the retro library with the vibrance of the character's outfit. Judging from the final photos, the overall atmosphere and its compatibility with the character achieved the expected results, making it a very dedicated Anime cosplay attempt.
