This time preparing this Wuthering Waves Suisui cosplay styling, quite a lot of thought went into the clothing details during the early stages. The inner garment is a short design in white with gold embroidery, layered with a very flowing gradient outer shirt transitioning from pure white to bright yellow, and then to deep blue at the hem, featuring very rich color layers. To increase the neat and modern feel of the overall vision, the lower body is matched with black tight shorts, and to elongate the leg lines in front of the lens, golden leg rings were specially added, with a pair of black pointed high heels on the feet. The gloves were chosen as a spliced style of dark red and purplish red, echoing the red rope tassels on the clothes.
Grooming the wig was also a major project. To achieve that fluffy yet layered effect, I did a lot of styling homework in advance. The golden hair strands needed to maintain luster, and the few upturned locks on top of the head along with the stray hairs in front of the forehead were carefully set with hairspray. For the hair accessories, red tassels and flying bird shapes adorned the sides of the hair, while the long blue-yellow gradient ribbon at the back of the head needed not only to be securely fixed but also to maintain a natural drape during shooting, avoiding tangling or blocking the face during actions. In terms of makeup, to highlight the Anime cosplay style, a large area of red-toned eyeshadow was used to echo the details, paired with yellow-green contact lenses and a red mark on the forehead, and a deeper red lip makeup was chosen, making the facial features more three-dimensional under the lens.
The layout of the shooting scene also strived to match this oriental fantasy atmosphere. Behind was a huge glowing full moon prop, surrounded by warm yellow ginkgo leaves and plain white flower branches. A Chinese carved wooden bed served as the main interactive background, draped with yellow-green silk-textured bedding, with white light gauze hanging down from the bedside. The wooden flooring combined with these traditional elements presented a quiet and classical texture, contrasting with the modern tailoring of the clothing.
In actual shooting, the use of light was a very important part. The moon light source behind provided a great rim light, making my whole body stand out from the dark background. Holding a round fan with blue borders and golden patterns is the soul prop of this set of pictures; the pose of holding the fan and the extent of covering the face would both affect the storytelling feel of the frame. To showcase the slit design of the clothing and the leg lines, poses like single leg raising, cross standing, and sitting on the bed edge were tried. Standing in high heels on wooden flooring actually requires very good balance, especially while maintaining an upright upper body, which was quite a test of physical strength.
Shooting this set of pictures made me feel extremely satisfying; from the layers of clothing to the matching of props, every link needed precise control. Looking at the gorgeousness and flow presented in the lens, the fatigue from the early preparation was completely swept away.
